o2 Credit Check Query

Hello All,

Hoping someone here can give me some advice.

I applied for a o2 12 Month Sim Only contract today and my application was referred. I phoned o2 Credit & Risk referrals team.

The advisor checked my application and said that they need either a driving licence number or digital passport ID to confirm my identity.

I advised that I dont have either of these, they told me that they cannot proceed and will need to close the application down since an account cannot be opened with out either of these pieces of information.

When i asked if the credit check was ok the advisor said that they couldn't tell me any further information without the details they have requested.

During the application they ask you for a credit card to perform an Identity check of a small amount so i am not sure why they would need a driving licence or passport to confirm further.

I have gone out and got the required forms to apply for a driving licence.

Once i get a licence do you think it wise to try applying again ?

  • are you on the electoral roll? Extra ID is usually due to them not being able to properly verify your identity.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

If it were OK the application wouldn't be referred. Either there is very little information in your credit file or there are some discrepancies.

This just proves that the card is on your name and active. Nothing more.

Thanks for the replies spinngingsheep & grumbler

Yes i am on the electoral roll I have just called back credit referrals and they have told me that my credit was fine but they just need to confirm my identity before they can activate an account ?

Now im even more confused since if my credit file was all in order i have other accounts on there with no defaults or late payments etc then why are they needing this further information.

I already have a long standing mobile account with no late payments with another provider.

They also said the order would just be closed rather than noted as a decline ?

They did say if i went into an o2 store they take a copy of your driving licence and apparently key your driver number in for verification purposes does any one know if this is true ??

    Many Thanks

Isn't it going to take you quite a while to take driving lessons and learn to drive (not to mention the cost)?
Getting a passport would be rather cheaper and quicker...

    Macman,

They told me they can accept it even if it is a provisional licence.
