New symptom, new 'possible' solution - Coil Packs - the electicery supply going through the cars system - Your comment about teh windows gives it away - on the Hyundai's it was turning the lights on
I want to quantify again, I have some very good knowledge around Hyudais, I am only assuming/guessing that Kia are sharing components. If you want a proper diagnosis go to a Kia main dealer and ask for a full diagnosis, if you talk nice to them, they often wont charge the £60 if they cant find the problem
Good news is, new coild packs are around £40 and can be fitted in 30 minutes by a confident amuater
if it was me, I would go with a Main Dealer supplied Coil Pack, and just to be sure another Dealer supplied TPS - change them myself and settle the most likely faults for <£100
Not a problem.
I have been to Kia main dealer who diagnosed the Camshaft position sensor but couldn't rule out the ECU and Timming HG or something like that, not the belt anyway. ( I don't have the report with me as I'm at work). They didn't mention coil packs, If I go back, will they not simply state the same thing?

I dont think it is Crank, when that plays up, the car tends to not start, just turn over as it does not know when to throw a spark.
Out of interest, what are they charging you for the sensors(crank & throttle)? again Hyundai, but they are around £18 +VAT each. dont be tempted to buy used from Ebay
1 clip and 2 screws to replace - 5 minutes work to do yourself.
in my experience, Crank Sensor, throttle sensor, and coil pack replacement fixes 99% of problems on the Alpha and Beta engines from Hyundai and I see no reason why Kia's should not be the same.0 -

Yeah, I didn't bother changing the camshaft position sensor, the throttle sensor I got a Hyundai one from ebay. They wanted £250.00 for the camshaft sensor.
I think I'm going to replace the coilpacks ASAP.

Check the voltage at the battery. If the alternator is playing up it maybe sending voltage spikes through the system.
Most of the sensors need a stable voltage to give accurate readings.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
