Ecofan versus Vulcan fan??

I am thinking about buying one of these fans for our woodburner - but having read the threads am now totally confused as to which is the best.
Has anyone actually had one and switched to the other (and why)??
What other makes would you recommend? (I've seen another one for around £65.00). Obviously, the cheaper I can get one, the better - but not if its inefficient and flimsy!
Any advice welcomed
.
Thanks in advance.

Don't really understand why anyone would swap from one to the other if reliability is equal.
They both pertain to do exactly the same thing using slightly different methodology.
Can't comment on the reliability of either (or the cheaper ones come to that) but sometimes buy cheap means buy twice.0 -
The Vulcan fan may be a little noisier I would guess - but similarly efficient at doing its job. There are Ecofan copies aplenty on the market - the makers of the genuine ones were quite keen to know about them as people were sending them their broken ones expecting a free fix! There were also issues regarding the actual copying of the design - you'd be quite hard pushed to tell them apart if you weren't aware of what to look for. I suppose at least with the real deal, you have full spares and repairs backup if needed - whether you'd get that with a cheaper copy from a maker who don't even put their name on the thing is another matter.0

Me mums Eco fan is sturdy and when placed correctly works silently.
It certainly shifts the air around her living room so to are as warm sat furthest away from the fire as you are sat beside it0 -
Hi,
Do the Ecofans start to have problems if they get hotter then the recommended max of 345 degC ? I generally run my wood burner at 400 - 450 degrees.0 -

My stove thermometer says "too hot" at 300C.
Are you sure you aren't mixing up C and F?
About 280F to 480F is my recommended "burn zone" (which works out at a Max of around 250C).
I suspect the fans have lots of problems if you run them at 350C (650+F) and i suspect it wouldn't be that great for the stove, long term, either.0 -
Aha yes. Strange my thermometer is only 12months old and the large writing is in fahrenheit. 345 DegC is very hot.0
