Front of the property it makes me think the house is ugly if you don't see that first

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I prefer to see an internal picture as the first picture, as you will be spending a lot more time inside the property than outside it, and I like to see if it's poky / lacks character.

However, I also want to see a photo of the outside of the house for reasons stated above - it's just not necessary for it to be the first thing I see.

That said, I'm a student looking for shared houses, so perhaps not your standard house purchaser!

I have never liked the front of our house - it is a chalet bungalow, 1950's built. Is gorgeous inside (in my humble opinion! Ideal Home magazine were interested in featuring it a couple of years back!) Anyway, on with a new estate agent this week, and he said you can have a triple picture on Rightmove in the initial pic - for £199 plus VAT! I think if they want to sell the house they should stump up to be honest!
  • An exterior shot is best for my needs

  • I was going to say that it's generally best to show the front of the house, but do a Rightmove search - if there's dozens of houses in your area in your price range, all with more-or-less identikit exteriors, it might be worth a go trying something else.

However, having read the other responses, I'm astonished by people saying they wouldn't even click on a Rightmove listing that didn't show the front. That kind of attitude isn't going to get you any bargains, you know! It's like people who say they won't view a house without a floorplan, or where the agent isn't suitably obsequious, or where the sofa's too big for the living room - not very Moneysaving! Anyway, judging by what others have said, it does sound like a pic of the front is best after all, otherwise you might be limiting your market to miserly people like me who don't like to pay too much!
