Is the fluid actually leaking just from the pump?

I ask because I had a golf a few years ago, power steering fluid was leaking and it was a new steering rack that was required.

I would check the rack as well, because if the fluid is leaking from here, this can also damage the pump when there is no fluid in to be pumped.

Personally, I would say that if the leaks are that bad they are draining the system, the only way to stop it will be to replace the faulty parts.

The leak is coming just from the pump according to the mechanic that came to have a look at it.

Try these for a used part http://www.find-a-part.com/c2o-1/new/pl_full.asp?gclid=CMr9yMDcsLMCFSHHtAodHyEAzg
I've used them a few times and always got a good deal. Bought a complete power steering rack for £38 posted last year.

Cheers, I have entered my details but will have to wait until tomorrow for the call backs as I doubt anyone will be working a sunday.
