one off viewing card and aerial query

Hopefully someone can answer this for me!

years ago when I had sky I had an extra cable run off the aerial to go to another room so that could have sky as well and this worked great. I have since given up sky although the dish is still in situ. Now want to look at getting a sky viewing card -the feesat one I think it is. If i read it correctly I can then hook up a sky plus box I have and get the freesat channels? is this correct? I know the sky plus bit wont work but not bothered about that.

my other query is that in the interval the lead which came from the sky box has been damaged-the end bit has come off. so basically there is just one wire coming in the middle of it. Will this just be a normal aerial connector type end? and if i need to lengthen it by a couple of metres is this easy?

Thanks

You don't need a viewing card to get the Freesat From Sky channels, you only gain about 5 extra channels by having it. Just plug the box in and you'll see what you can get.
You can't get Freesat via a Sky box, you can get Freesat From Sky. Similar channel line up, but a different platform.
As you say. Sky+ won't work.
The connectors are F connectors on a satellite feed.

the cable thats damaged is the one that i had taken as a secondary lead from the sky dish into the room. I think its the one which goes into the skybox. this is where i need the f connector maybe?

Cable joint kits and cable extension kits are available (with F connectors).
