I say give thegoodman a chance there. I have a suspicion as to why he went 'missing', or perhaps enforced absence, who knows.
He's come back & had the opportunity to give 2 bias laden posts & hasn't taken it - his posts there seem perfectly fine to me.

Anyway, not on your life would i ever try a windows phone. Those stupid boxes all over the place. I hate those damn things. I also wont be buying Windows 8 - looks absolutely horrendous. You'd have to pay me to use that stuff.

I don't get what's going on with the app scene - as the reviews are panning Shazam on the Galaxy S3, but the wife has just downloaded it & it works fine.
Interestingly, the free one says "unlimited tagging" - i thought this is what made the "Encore" version different?! So i don't know what the difference is between the two.

Those 'boxes' (live tiles) on Windows Phone are brilliant to be fair.

They're actually not. They look awful. The layout is awful.

Here's a question regarding signal issues....

With the iPhone, you can toggle between 2G & 3G. If i'm right then with the S3 you 'can't' - it just auto-selects the best signal available.
With the iPhone, if you have 3G on & you're in a non-3G network then it is supposed to pick up 2G, correct?

    Well here's my problem...

At home we really struggle with an o2 signal, yet if i put my iPhone in the corner of the window i actually get 3 bars, but note: I'm not in a 3G area at home.
If i have 3G turned on & put the phone in the corner of the window, i still get NO signal, yet if i toggle 3G off, a signal appears.

As you can't toggle anything on the S3, could this stop a signal coming through the way i've just described? If it's as though 3G is auto-enabled, then could it be similar to what i've just described experiencing with the iPhone?

You can toggle 3G/2G with the S3 too.

Use Menu - Settings - More Settings - Mobile Networks - Network mode.

    GSM only is 2G.

    Thanks jem.

We'll have a play with that to see if it improves the signal. By signal i don't mean bars, i mean performance.
