Wow, I rang back. Shaking and wobbly in my voice though. She said that they felt they had failed and that from next week they are having a big shake up. She asked did I want to come back and go in one of the calmer areas, she asked my opinion on where things could be improved, she asked my opinion on how staff were treated and she said should they known about my issues I could have gone to the doctors and she could have been my mentor and they would have paved the way for me a little more. She apologised that she has been on holidays for two weeks and will be upset if I go because I have so much potential.
I explained that I had seen too much, got worked up over too much and if i was to fit in there I would have to change, I've already had to change and look at the state of me. I told her about the fork incident , how it was dealt with and she was mortified.
I said I can't go back, the damage has been done and that I'm so confused as how I am meant to work in there. What is appropriate and right for me is not what they feel is right, and I said I have worked independently for years, being trusted to just get on with whatever task I was meant to and that I don't need to be constantly managed and feel aggrieved that I watched over and commented on all the time.
She said that they are used to dealing with younger members of staff who don't have a lot of initiative and she can see exactly what I am saying. Ahe aske me again did I want to come back into a less pressured room and I said it wouldn't work, that I would be bored and feel like a waste if my talents. She agreed with me and said she was sorry to see me go but understands. She's not going to bother with a notice period and will adjust my wages accordingly for Thursday. All in all a very useful phone call for both of us.
I couldn't go back now, even if I wanted to but feeling a bit 'maybe I should have tried the lesser stressful rooms' but to be honest it's the nursery managers approach that has me in this state more than anything else.
Sorry, hardly OS but letting it out before it twirls in my head and gets me feeling 'aaaaaaaaaarg!'0 -
Good girl, yet again I'm soooooo proud of you, you can now walk away from this in the right and close the whole sad situation down for yourself. Why should you go back and try again? wherever you are in the nursery it's still going to be the same horrible people on the staff, no, you did very well to walk away and I think they know they have not treated you as they should have done. If you can't say it to us my petal, then who??? Make tea!!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Just skimmed through all the last couple of days posts.
Fuddle: you have done absolutely the right thing. You have handled the situation brilliantly. If I was that owner I would be on the warpath now. If nothing else she should be very concerned about the wellbeing of the children. It doesn't sound as though they are treated with much understanding and compassion. Hopefully she will put a bomb under the manager and the rest of the staff and maybe keep a closer eye on what is going on there.
Anyway, enjoy your freedom! Alfie will be pleased that you are at home more. At least you now know that you need to work closer to home and for fewer hours if you are to keep all the balls in the air.
I'll try to post a bit more frequently but I have a funeral on the mainland on Wednesday, DS2's birthday on Friday so we are taking him out, Oh, and a coffee morning in a church at the other end of the island on Tuesday, a day out on Monday next with the old couple whose son we are going to the funeral of on Wednesday (try to keep up!) In the gaps I have to get all my summer clothes out, washed and ironed and the winter ones put away and the house cleaned and the garden got ready to be left for a couple of weeks as we are off to our favourite Greek Island next Tuesday for 2 glorious weeks. I've already done the most important things - got my euros and packed my Kindle up with loads of books.
My oven timer has just pinged so I'm off to take out the crumble I've made for pudding tonight.

Fuddle, well done, you did the right thing, the owner will be sorry to have lost a good member of staff, hope the manager gets a rocket as a result.
Some good news to share, my bus pass split a little while ago and sod's law the little smartcard chip was caught by the split.
I rang up to arrange a replacement today and expected to be told to pay £5 for a new one, as per the website.
I was told, no, it was fine, no fee for a damaged card but only for one lost through negligence.
Also they have the old photo on file (Pops' experience with his Mum's card made me think they would) so no need to make a long and awkward trip to get a replacement photo, which would involve me walking a distance that I can't really manage any more.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Jolly hollies monnagran... Sooooo envious! I was looking at Haven caravan site for quick, cheap Break away last night - CHEAP? £100's, literally a couple of 100 pounds for. a. weekend!
No way, wish Alfie wasn't too boisterous for the tent.
Lasagne and garlic bread for tea. Looking forward to it.
You know when you say part-time monnagran? Does school hours count? The school along from me (not the girls' I chose a different one) is advertising for a teaching assistantgoing to try for that. will be no travel costs, near girls and finish at 4pm of an evening and no school holidays. Going for an application form tomorrow
Who knows what will happen but been up and down for so long, think ill just enjoy the ride!
Mccollach I like it when things like that happen. Perfect.
Also pops, you mentioned before you had been a market near me. Where is it and is it any good and is the centre finished yet? The nerves get the better of me walking round tere with all the buses darting here there and everywhere.0 -
Still flattened here but wanted to say thanks to those who helped me with leeks/bacon/chicken liver - it turned out ok (shock) and was nice. And to whoever mentioned Delia's book One is Fun - I got it today and I could do some of the stuff in there I think.0

OMG, someone call the mods, Mardatha's user account has been hacked.
They're mentioning cooking in a positive tone; dead giveaway, that. Can we have the real Mar back, please?
Pretty please? With jellybeans on top?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thats why I never holiday in England , much too expensive ,what with the petrol to get there, the stress of the roads, then you dont always get good accommodation, then the price. then to top it theres the weather,.....
You can go to a hot /warm country for about £400, thats H/B , big difference there, ive just come back from a carers break had a week in Tunisia, 24 degrees, lovely food , hotel, weather for £378, F/B inclusive , Just spent about £160 spending money , you wont get much cheaper than that, plus when you go away for a holiday you come back feeling refreshed, where as in UK its all stress.......................
Been lovely again here today , sunny, but wind had a slight nip in it, but its such good drying weather, even the ground is drying out fast, had to water some plants that ive put in............Sheila0 -
Just re-read your post pops. I don't know those places you mention but off to investigate and I didn't know there was a Lidl!
Your holiday sounds lovely Sheila
I've just scalped me front lawn and badly. Grass stains (got due to cutting the edges with kitchen scissors) how do you get them out?0
