Have been missing for a few days as we lost our internet on Friday evening during a storm and didn't get it back till last night. It's still pouring with rain in between the showers and the wind is howling. It's horrible but I have the feeling we are going to get the extreme cold back again. On CNN it says we may get the snow that Italy has at the moment. I just hope it doesn't happen as we live in a mountain village and even a slight covering would render the roads impassable.
Have filled both freezers just in case we do get the bad weather and we have plenty of fuel in. Making lots of cheap warming food at the moment, although I am still doing my healthy eating plan. Got the electric bill which was 203 euros for two months but that is what I expected to be honest...its only 100 for the electric ..the rest is tax on the property and local taxes. Thank goodness we are not covered by two of the new taxes that are yet to be added to the bills..they are only for new properties worth more than 200,000 euros and our village house is nowhere near to that. So we can breathe a sigh of relief for now until they dream up some more new taxes for this year. Stay warm and safe everyone, my weather friends tell me this is just the start for you , it will definitely get colder and more snow on the way. He thought you might have blizzards on 16-18th and a Westerly blizzard with high seas around the 21st or 22nd.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Whoops...sorry, I was a bit rude there...should've addressed you as 'Popperwell'...am only an occasional poster, shouldn't have been that familiar!
Don't be daft CDM,
Pops is fine:) besides the full name is a bit long."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Pops please don't cut out the meat and fish...living on carbohydrates is not healthy....your body need the protein for health and repair. It is the only food (protein) that can be used to rebuild the body and repair it. I am already worried that you are not getting enough protein during the days you are having mostly carbs. Many people in the UK eat a diet that is high in carbs and low in protein and it does affect their health in a negative way. Cutting costs is counter productive if you end up unhealthy because of it, whether its cutting food costs or cutting down on heating.
Thank you 2Tonsils, so kind of you...did I say that when I returned home from that concert last night I cooked some fish that needed using up and that was two pieces(still have no idea whether it was cod or haddock)I just had a wholemeal bap with it...until I put it in the oven I wasn't sure if it was going to be chicken kiev.
If I have a little salad later I can add a pork pie...its meat at least.:p
Must eat more eggs too..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I really enjoy listening to radio 2 on the internet. I like the golden oldies on Saturday mornings . There is also a blues music programme on that is fantastic but I am not sure what day..its on in the evening though. Tonight on Greek tv we have Downton Abbey to look forward to. Just cooking pork chops, mashed potatoes and some mixed veggies.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. My husband loves pork pie but unfortunately we can't get it here...and I can't touch the flour to make him one LOL......going to have some boiled eggs for my supper later..mmmmm.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. So if anyone wants to send your household care packages, they'll know what to include.
Weather here lambent and lurking and I feel copious amounts of snow are imminent. Gosh, could be as much as an inch or two incoming.
Today I went into my bank (major high street outfit) and said to the greeter that I'd like to talk to someone about my new contactless debit card. Without missing a beat, he said did I want to have a non-contactless one? Obviously I'm not the only punter rather cross at being sent one of these without a choice. New card is on order and whole visit took under 5 mins.
I quite like my bank. They're nearby, their staff are very pleasant and I like the layout of their statements. We've had an affable relationship for 30 years; I don't bother them much and they don't bother me much. Website's a bit pants but then again I can collar them in person 5.5 days a week so I can live with that.:rotfl:

2T that Blues show is on Mondays at 7pm in the UK but available anytime up to 7 days after is airs on the BBC Player.
You might even enjoy http://www.solidgoldgem.am/
but there is so much choice on the net from all over the world...
Eggs are so versatile. At least I have upped my meat and fish intake...:)Now I eat less meat on cost grounds but also not to overwork my kidneys...but all I was told to do was have a varied diet and not sit down to a massive steak. They seem ok about me eating mainly chicken and fish. And of course veg, fruit etc...
GQ, I bet my bank would like shot of me...no savings(and if I did it would disappear so quickly)I hardly use the credit cards...no profit made from me at all...
But the bank is at the bottom of my street so it is easy to pop in(but it could change to a Coop soon when everything is sorted out)regarding selling off branches.
Tea...since Mum passed away I have mainly drank weak coffee but may now switch to tea for a while. There is a story in the press today...well two...
That they can make a tea more healthy than coffee and the teas we have now but you make it out of coffee leaves:eek:
The other story says that fewer homes have kettles these days and more are buying various coffee machines and drinking more fancy coffees at home...I haven't noticed it myself and as I said on another MSE thread I have two spare electric kettles and one that boils on the hob."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

:mad::(
went into work this morn and line manager asked what the big boss wanted with me, so i told her. she said 'nothing against you, lisa, but i can guarantee its not gonna happen' lo and behold and hour later she calls me over to tell me it's been a misunderstanding and they dont need me after all
phoned her manager (lots of different supervisors and managers, more than they need i reckon!) and told her about the conversation and how annoyed i was about it. she explained that the school needs someone who already has experience and the boss who phoned me thought i had already run a kitchen. told her i thought it was downright rude to offer someone an opportunity then to not only take it away without explanation, but to pass on the message through someone else.
turns out there is another similar opportunity going on the intranet tonight or tomorrow with the option to train. will be applying for definite. a bit further to travel and will need the car, but will be more than double my current wages if i get it.
feeling a bit deflated now and need to do tea for the kids but cant be botheredmight get DH to do them a tin of soup while i sit and sulk

Oh Lisa, have a big hug. What an almighty mess up - and that is really pants to hear it from your line manager and not the big boss.
Looking on the bright side - even with the mis-understanding, they now know about you, and know that you are enthusiastic and up for the challenge, that will stand you in good stead when other jobs come up. Whoever said "There is no such thing as bad publicity" was right where job-hunting is concerned.
Go for it and apply for the other job: and in the mean time cut yourself some slack and let OH feed the kids soup or beans on toast or something similar. They'll probably reckon it's a treat;) Then I prescribe at least two of: a hot bath, candles, a glass of wine, a mug of hot chocolate: or even all four - but just don't muddle them up:)
Take care x0
