    Hi On my Own,

You aren't the only one to be afraid of what the future holds at the moment. We have an existing thread where people in the same position support one another:

'supporting each other through really tough times'

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the advice in one place.

    Pink

    Thank You Pink,

I have looked at that thread before, but felt I couldn't post this on there, as I am not in rough times. I am just afraid. I was worried people on there who are really struggling would wonder what I am moaning about.:o

Have you been to the doctors lately? It sounds odd but behaviour like this can sometimes be a sign of an underlying medical condition. Not calling you a dog, but my dog was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid moreso because of her behaviour than her physical health, problems in the body can often be expressed by the mind.

I suffer from it too. I always have and probably always will. It keeps me awake at nights and I often lapse into silence just worrying about things.

I very rarely go to the Doctors. My surgery isn't the best in the world. When ever I go there I am always fobbed off, and made to feel like I am moaning about nothing.
I took ds there from the age of 4, asking for help. At 16 he tried to kill himself and was diagnosed with ASD at the hospital.
Both the children go to a different surgery now. I have no idea why I didn't change with them.

I just feel like crying all the time. I try not to as it upsets the kids, and I can't tell why I am crying as I often don't know.

The silly thing is my Dad is quite well off, and would never see us go without. So I also have a safety blanket.

Hi, I suffer from anxiety, have done all my life, part circumstance, part makeup, so I really think you should change your doctor and go to one who will be understanding. No-one should be fobbed off by their doctor. I think you need to find out what your options are and if this is a new feeling, ways to handle it. My surgery offers counselling and it has made a huge difference to me.

A good doctor will offer solutions/answers/help; you may need to just talk to someone. I take a med for my anxiety, so goodness knows what I'd be like without it.
Take care of you, it sounds like you've taken care of everyone else, but you need to put yourself first on this.

I don't normally suffer with anxiety. I have always made lots of lists and like to have things organised well in advance, a little OCD maybe, but never felt like this.

I am normally a fighter, who won't let things beat me. I try to look at everything as a challenge. I love beating my budget target.

I have a decent stock cupboard, and put money away in different tins for different events.
I safe food stamps and do nectar adpoints every week.

I just can't think of anything else to do. I have cut back as much as I can and it worries me. Where do you go if you already buy the basic brand.
Every time I go shopping there seems something has gone out of our price range. Last week Tesco basic grapes went from 99p to £1.75. I cannot afford that.
I worry that if it carries on like this, we will not be able to afford any food. Which I know is irrational, but still worrying me.

nuttyp our eldest is in her first year at uni. The course fees are £9000 ayear ad she has a loan for this, she never sees the money as it is paid directly to the uni, she was then given a maintenance loan based on my and OH's combined income for the previous year. This has covered her halls accommodation costs but left her with about £12 a week to live off. She has a bank account with student overdraft with Santandar (sp?) you have to shop around each year for the best deal for this. She has not used this overdraft as we have been giving her her cost of living expenses to date but unfortunately we will be having to stop this imminently. They do not have to start paying the loan back until they are earning approx £24.000 a year (can not remember the exact figure) and they only pay a small percentage of their salary a month to cover this.

Things have been a bit fraught in the VP household this week as things have not been going well with OH's new job which as of this afternoon he no longer has. He is such a good hard worker he is feeling pretty down and we know that my full time salary does not cover all of our outgoings which is why I was working extras at the weekends but I can not do that now because of my back injury. We will be sitting down this weekend to thoroughly go over our finances. On the bright side he has contacted a couple of acquaintances today who both think they may possibly be able to come up with something for him work wise.

Off to enjoy a comforting plate of beef stew and dumplings from the slow-cooker now. I am in.need of comfort food and need to avoid chocolate.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I think your anxiety is a normal reaction to this worrying time, but like you say you have options, maybe focus on those options and when the worrying thoughts come into your head, change them in some way, using yes, but I can do a, b, or c...

what is the worst that can happen?

I recently reached a stage where I had no money for rent, no options left or so I thought as my income had dropped drastically. But although I suffer from anxiety I am a fighter too and somehow pulled myself out of this desperate straight. It's surprising what you can cope with when you have no other choice. I know the grapes were just an example, but instead of grapes get in season fruit, veg etc...I don't buy grapes anymore because they are so expensive but I still have fruit. As this is a new feeling for you can you pinpoint a trigger for it?
