BT help

We ordered the fibre optic upgrade, waited 3 weeks for the engineer to turn up, which he did, he changed the box, toddled off to do something at the box in the street, came back turned it on aaaaaaannndddd it didn't work. Fast forward 2 hrs, he's changed the box 3 times, rewired the wall socket, checked the wiring in the box outside, 3 hrs later he's dismantled the whole thing and put the old hub back on aaaannnnddddd it still didn't work. He said he'd spoken to his manager and they would send out an engineer the following day to look at it, waited all day . . . no engineer, phoned up and surprise surprise nothing on the system, spoke to some guy that could hardly speak english who tried to explain some stuff, from what I gathered the initial engineer wouldn't have been able to sort it, what I needed was a level 2 engineer, anyway he disconnected the call promising to ring me back tonight after they'd run some diagnostics.

Duly called me back to say that although they are fitting the fibre optic system, the actual wifi wouldn't be switched on until the 19th NOV but they've switched off the normal, working perfectly, wifi so we can't have that back either without a level 2 engineer coming out to the box on the street.

I demanded someone come out to sort it and at least put us back onto the old system and as my OH works from home as he is coding up some stuff for NICE and writing an iphone/ipad app for them and without the wifi he can't work and the quickest they can send someone out is the 9th November

So we've now got to wait until then, can I and how do I, go about claiming lost wages for my OH. He's has had to go out and purchase some dongles just so he can get online and keep his contract or could we claim for loss of earnings??
Grrrrrrrrr Any help/advice greatly appreciated
Thank you
