Pet insurance question

In case it helps when you are looking at quotes, I was advised by a friend that if you have a cross-breed, you should choose "domestic short/long hair" rather than "moggy" as apparently the number of claims for "moggies" have gone up which puts them in a higher risk category.
Sorry it seems I'm just talking to myself here, but hopefully others will look at this later and find it helpful!
I've just got two quotes from Axa and Aviva - both were cheaper for a moggie than for a crossbreed/bicolour. So I'm sticking with moggie!!
Also, Petplan have come out massively higher than the others at £19 per month  which is nearly double my M&S renewal!
So far the best are looking to be Aviva and Axa, both around the £7 per month mark. Does anyone have any experience of them please?0 -
I'm having the same problem with M&S, I'm now paying nearly £60pm for two dogs. I was toying with the idea of cancelling and putting the money aside in another account but it (God forbid) anything huge happened and they needed treatment requiring thousands i'd be better with the insurance. I've tried petplan, AXA, more than and they're all coming up with the same if not more than what i'm paying now. The only one that was cheaper was Animal Friends and with their policy of giving their profits to animal charities I was almost sold until someone told me they weren't a good insurer and didn't always pay out. Has anyone any experience of them?0
