I appear to have completely messed this up, I chose a bad month for putting my shopping amount down (extra alcohol due to birthdays etc)
Looking on my spreadsheets my average amount on shopping is £98 a month
I'm really not normally this rubbish i promise, not really with it today!
The first thing I would do is go tee total for a few months

If he hasn't then you are correct, but unless he goes to the job centre and signs on he won't know. Plus he should go and sign on anyway so that his NIC's are kept up to date at the very least, even if he doesn't get any money.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
Debt free date 25/11/2015 - Made It!0 -
Well here I am, over 12 months on. Ended up splitting up with the person I thought I would end up marrying due his lack of drive to get a job (as far as I know he still hasn't got a stable job).
Although my debt has gone up (through 'keeping' the ex partner) my money situation is finally starting to look better as I am finally making a start on paying back my debts again.
I moved to a cheaper place close to work, cancelled the Sky as it passed the 12 month mark and bought a freeview+ box & I was extremely lucky to have been given a pay rise and a bonus at Christmas which enabled me to reduce my overdraft by £500 (it is now £800)
I have a long road ahead of me, its going to be tough but at least I am making progress now. May actually become a sensible adult one day!! I also got to keep some of my niceties (lovefilm/ the occasional beauty treatment)
The plan:
To reduce my overdraft by £100 each month until it is gone (Roll on August!).
Once this is done I should have around £300 disposable income to start paying back my debt to my parents.
Debt to parents is currently: £5,948.36 (For my Car, money to help me with deposit and final payments on house when I moved, Credit Card they paid off for me & money to get my brakes sorted on my car)
I can see the light at the end of this very very long tunnel

Hi Laura,
Well done for your progress, and the difficult choices you may have had to make. Good luck with the rest of your journey, and stick with your diary! For me, when I gave up updating my diary I gave up paying back my debt, supposed to be debt free but still far from it!

what a difference a year makes.
well done on getting sorted out money wise, sorry the EX wasn't up to scratch.
SOA looking good. what benefits does the £10 a month bank fee give you? is it worth it?LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Hi!
Wow, I was reading and not taking any notice of the dates, I thought they were current and I was sitting here scratching my head for ideas beyond what other folk had already suggested!
You're looking well there hun
Couple of things that I would suggest are;
1. Your mobile is quite high, you can get a good sim only deal if your phone isn't knackered? Probably save at least £20pcm there...
2. Can you get a free bank account with with overdraft perhaps? Or if the interest on your Argos card and personal loan is higher than your o/d maye divert funds there to pay them off quicker?
3. Stop smoking! Yuck
Sorry to hear about the ex but it sounds like you're over him...
Keep it up! You're well on your way

Thanks for the responses guys,
Asparagus1968: The £10 account fee is to stop me having to pay £30 a month in overdraft charges as I am well over my free £300 overdraft I should be paying £1 per day. My bills all come out at the beginning of the month so I have been in the red straight after being paid for as long as I can remember. hopefully not for long though!
MonkeyBalls:
1. My mobile is quite high and I probably could keep my Iphone and get a sim only but my contract doesn't end until next Jan. I guess it depends what kind of condition my phone is in by then
2. I was looking at my Spreadsheet yesterday and the £10 Bank account fee (to avoid is more than the interest on my Argos account so for now the Overdraft is still my priority
3. I stopped smoking Cigarettes, its this Ecig that I am now hooked on!!! I'm trying I promise
