They don't usually enforce the name on the ticket scheme. And I'm sure a tenner slipped into one of the security team would get them through. Always happens.

It's apparently going to be different this year, Glastonbury have funded applications for free Citizen Card's to ensure everyone going has proof of I.D. http://www.citizencard.net/glastonbury/ and they say everyones I.D. will be checked. Michael Eavis seems to be really keen on stopping touts.

They cannot ensure that everyones ID is checked, Michael Eavis has even stated this in a Radio 5 Interview. He said it would be stupid to think they can check everyones ID but they will do their best to check a vast amount.

I have been for the last few years and last year i got checked for ID once, on the friday, even though there was a big hype about ID last year as well.

Why? the people bidding it up so high are just trying to protect people who may bid then receive tickets in someone else's name and have wasted their money!

I agree here, the people bidding up are doing it to save someone losing money - and I applaud them for doing it. I think it's right to take 'direct action' against these sellers because the chances are people will get bounced out at the gates. If the sellers explained or pointed out the risks to the buyer, then thats a differnet matter - but they don't; they make out it's easy to walk in and encourage false id's, etc

I've done it (overbid on scams/links/etc) to save people being ripped off, and would do it again. I also went to one of these 'one day special electrical clearance sales' held in a local hotel, where the team scams people for a fortune using a very clever manipulation technique for a pile of cr4p. I handed out leaflets to the public queuing up to get in explaining how they were going to be fleeced; nearly got my head kicked in, but was worth it to see people reading it and walking away.

It's up to those who know to protect the unwary.

    Sermon over.

You can cancel a bid at any time while the auction is in progress. I think you're thinking about the fact you can't end/revise an auction with bids in the last 12 hours
