How did my initial question end up as a row over pets? For the record we have a small poodle, so no dog hairs, he is bathed every week and is not left in the house at all. I would never tell lies to get a rented property as it does not pay to do so. Unfortunately a lot of responders to my question just go through life accepting everything that is dished out to them and never question rules and laws. I am sure the banks said the same thing about the legality of PPI and looked what happened there! It only took a few people to question the 'rules' and in the end decency prevailed. My advice to people is don't necessarily accept what the majority tell you, usually it is because they have never experienced the same scenario themselves. We will be taking the LL to court and I will let you know the outcome. As for the person who said it's not worth the stress - I don't get stressed over anything!0

Excuse me, but you do not OWN this thread. You have posted on a public forum and often things go off at a tangent. There is no "row over pets" but when a poster adds a reply that is downright misleading, it is wise to respond to correct them.
Threads do go off track sometimes, not much you can do about it!
If you don't like replies, and don't want to take the general advice given, that is totally up to you, but it does beg the question "why did you come here asking for a general concensus of advice from members, who can only speak from their general experience of life and similar circumstances if you then decide to go on your own sweet way?"
Several replies have given you the same general advice, but you are of course, at liberty to ignore it. Would you have been happier if everyone to rallied around and tell you to sue the pants off your landlord, egg you on, tell you you have a cast iron case to sue for thousands - is that what you wanted to hear?
As I said once before, good luck with that ....0 -
OP you didn't answer as far as I can tell weather your Deposit is in a scheme or not? If not this is your best and easiest route to compensation if that's what you want.0

That seems to be because OP is intent on finding someone to pat them on the back and tell them what a wonderful job they are doing trying to sue their LL, and finding fault with those who are not agreeing with them, rather than reading the good advice they have received. I mentioned deposit protection in a very early reply, as have some others, but OP is on a single track to a response they want to hear and isn't interested in anything else ....
ITA that if the LL hasn't protected the deposit, than that is something worth suing for, rather than the half-baked route OP is trying to gain some support for!0 -

I think Werdnal ought to calm down as it seems that they are the one who thinks they own the thread themselves judging by how many replies they have posted. My original question was merely asking whether our situation was unique or not. I didn't ask for opinion on whether or not I was in the right. And the answer to the person who asked if my deposit was in the scheme is Yes it is.0 -

It's not a row it is a discussion or debate, that is how forums for support/ advice work - no individual has all the answers. If you don't like the support/ advice/ suggestions given feel free to go elsewhere and waste the time of the forum posters there. Otherwise please refrain from using inflammatory language like "touched a raw nerve" and 'row' when they are not warranted. Werndal is a valued member of this community, perhaps you should be thanking them for posting several times on your thread even if having the truth smack you round the face does smart.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

What are you suing for? you have no loss.
You also sound like a pr@, criticising people offering you their opinions. If you do not want them then do not post on a public forum!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

Yes and those few people have now caused misery for the masses who were not stupid enough to take PPI and now get inundated with emails, texts and phone calls, from companies who can reclaim the dumb person tax that you added to your loan.0
