Understood.

The bears to which you allude are of a different stripe, and indeed should be respected. It's only when they put paws to the keyboard and write an infinite load of drivel about how houses have become unaffordable and will drop 25%.

I hope you're doing something about the ones in the picture - who have black eyes. Some panda-bashing is going on and should be stopped.

just to let you know that i dont get pay till next week.

A couple of things if I may...

Aside from the dreadful use of English, are the posters suggesting that the Sky rep on that forum is able to ascertain who the account holder is and make wholesale changes to the account from just a username on an internet forum?

Irresponsible lending by Sky?
I know it's not lending but tying somebody into a contract for a fixed term is in essence lending.

As are mobile phone contracts, well most things you pay by installment.

No doubt people are short of cash...I hear about it all the time.
I've also heard time and time again when coming to the end of an agreement you just give them a ring...you're pulling out...and by magic they offer a reduced monthly payment.
Why can't we do this with our gas and electric...;)

Would be nice wouldn't it. I must admit that I am genuinely surprised that there isn't some latitude from the power companies when I have tried it. Costs them (us) a fortune to churn customers.

I find it surprising the amount people will pay for non essential goodies, when they patently can't afford it, it is like paying for invisible clothes. They are buying nothing apart from gratification that is soon past.

Are the Irish more drunk than the Scots?

We need a poll? But avoid Friday night or it might be abused from Aberdeen to Zoar

[Zoar Angus. A location on the northern edge of Forfar (Angus), Zoar is one of only two contemporary place names in Scotland beginning with the letter 'Z'.]

Except it's not, as I said in my post.

The cost of a 12 month Sky subscription is not an outrageous amount to have saved up before you enter into the contract.

It's not like something that costs a year or more of your salary like a car.

I hear what your saying above but:

If your a family on a low wage and your only entertainment is 'stay in, tv', then is it so bad to take out a contract, (you quoted ;£500.00). I'm not talking about the unemployed, i'm taking about real families, (nurses etc) with childcare cost's, increased fuel bills and everything else to pay for. Rather different for those on large single or double salaries.

I'm only seeing this from another side.
There is no reason why anyone with satellite equipment couldn't use it for the Freesat channels.
Freesat has many more channels than free-view and should be the option for anyone under financial pressure.

Freesat sucks. It doesn't even have Dave. Freesat has many many channels but I challenge you to actually want to watch any of them.

I miss Freeview but there just just isn't a signal near us so I'm stuck with Freesat's block-o-vision and 700 channels of Faith TV

It doesn't make the stereotypes true any more than meeting a clever Irishman, a hard working black man or a generous Scottish person means that the stereotypes should be reversed. All stereotypes are wrong IME.

Generally stereotypes are correct, which is why they are stereotypes.
