  • Thankyou everyone for your comments, I knew it was exempt from the 30 day money back when purchased because was told at the till, rang argos this morning and was told it wouldnt be possible to refund because of this exemption.
Rang Barclaycard as soon as I realised what I had done, about 9 last night, very unhelpful was told I would be charged £12 a day until under my limit and it would go on my permanent record, trying to get the money together now to clear it and stop any more charges.
My reason for using a credit card in the first place was because it has £10 off the price at the moment and also £10 voucher back for spending over £100 so put it on the card and would have been able to pay it back in a couple of weeks, so no interest, well that was the plan so much for saving money lol!
HUGE thanks to everyone who works so hard posting comps xxx

    I would question the £12 a day.

I though max overlimit charge on a credit card was £12, per billing cycle. After OFT got involved in unfair charges.

Time to dig yout T/C out on that one. :D

Then be prepared to log a complaint if they do charge more than £12 on the basis of them allowing you to go over by so much.

There is no way a standard Barclaycard would charge £12 a day for being over limit.

Surely they won't charge you anything if you bring the limit under the card before your next statement.

Otherwise it will be one £12 charge and a black mark on your credit file. If you then bring the card under the limit, then no more charges/black marks should be made.

If you do get the charge, then you should make sure you cover the minimum payment and then a bit more, to make sure you don't go over limit again. So many people think paying the minimum is sufficient but it quite often isn't the case, because of interest on fees/cash advances etc..

Perhaps as someone else said, you can get cash out on your other card and then pay it to the Barclaycard. Or even do a transfer from the Barclaycard to the other card.

Of course it may be pointless if your Barclaycard statement is due in the next 2 or 3 working days, as there may not be time for any monies paid/transferred to clear.
