You are entitled to a refund and don't need to give a reason. The money wil be refunded to your card. Go to customer service, get the refund; then go to the till and buy another one on the correct card. Don't complicate things by trying to it all in one transaction as there is absolutely no need to

But the money won't be refunded immediately......it can take several days (does anyone know if there is a legal limit? can it be as long as 28 days?).

This doesn't make sense. The OP used the wrong card so I am assuming the funds were available on another card that they intended to use instead - and therefore they still are available. You don't need to wait for the the Barclaycard refund to be processed.

The problem is the charges from Barclaycard but that ship has sailed unless you call them and persuade them to be lenient - or if you have cash, pay cash into the Barclaycard account today and it may cover the sale before it's processed. Better to call them first in any case

This is what I am trying to say! The OP needs the funds back on her Barclaycard because she is over her limit. Just getting the card refunded and the goods purchased on another card will not help the immediacy of the problem because the Barclaycard charges will continue to accrue whilst the refund is processed!

OK, sorry, I was commenting on the people talking about whether Argos would allow you to refund and re-debit as one transaction - which simply isn't necessary.

I agree. Too much unnecessary faffing and doesn't solve the OP's problem anyway!

The £12 a day claim is nonsense.

I doubt Argos will give the OP the refund anyway. They state on several electronic items that the item is exempt from the 30-day money back guarantee.

A refund isn't obligatory on the retailer especially when there is nothing wrong with the item.

You're absolutely right. All iPods are excluded from the 30-day money back guarantee. I didn't know about these exemptions. If you'd bought it on Amazon for example, you could return it for free without giving a reason and get your money back

That is because the Amazon purchase falls under DSR.

Unless I am reading things wrong then the OP bought in store
