Banging boiler

I don't think it is. If I understand kettling correctly, this is when the water in the central heating pipes heats up too fast and boils in the heat exchanger.
I had a new heat exchanger fitted, and it didn't solve the problem (it even seemed to get worse!)
The problem isn't the central heating part of the boiler (Worcester Bosch 28XSi I think it is) it is when we run the hot water, from any tap in the house.
It doesn't seem to matter whether the heating is on or off (so heating of the water in the central heating pipes can be ruled out), the pipes still bang and there is still a pressure pulse through the central heating system in time with the banging.
It is a rythmic banging that sometimes stops with time, but sometimes goes on at various volumes for as long as the hot water is running (bit of a problem when running a bath!)
I can sometimes stop the banging from happening by running the hot tap for about 15-20 seconds, then turning it off, waiting for 60 seconds and running the hot tap again. This can usually stop the banging from happening, but not always.
Thanks for the help so far.0 -
Have you had your diverter valve replace at all? Sounds like a probable cause?

Hi.
A rhythmic banging suggests a ball valve bouncing on the water surface of a storage tank. As you have a combi you don't have any stored water, do you?

No. No water storage tank in this house (unless you count the one in the loft that is too big to get through the loft hatch  )
It's wierd. I really don't understand what is causing it, apart from running the hot water that is.
I wonder whether a new boiler would solve it?

Have you had the plate heat exchanger looked at on this boiler?
Sounds like its blocked to me, that causes the pressure gauge to bounce.0
