Charged more online than label on item.

I have just received a jacket I ordered for my daughter from internacionale. The price online was £49.99 but the label on the jacket says £44.99. At the time there was a discount of 20% off of everything online so Internacionale are saying I should just be happy with the discount. Does anyone know if this is legally acceptable. Not a huge amount of money but just wasn't aware stores are allowed to do this. Thanks

You could always send it back under DSR.

Not much you can do. But a bit cheeky of the company and if it annoyed me that much I wouldn't shop their again. (Play annoyed me about 5 years ago I have never been back)
  • Nothing you can do, you saw it for £49.99 and offered to pay it. The company accepted your offer.

If you really want to send it back but you'll only spite yourself, you have no rights to then demand it at the reduced price.

It is a bit cheeky, but I'm guessing you wouldn't question the legality of it if you paid £49.99 and the label read £59.99?

Could be older stock and the price has increased since the label went on?
  • I would doubt if anybody would question the legality of it if the price was less than that shown on the tag.
I would expect it to be less if they said there was a 20% discount

The price on the label is irrelevant - the contract was made based on the price advertised online, and you were happy with that price, otherwise you would not have bought it.

If the OP had been made aware of the price on the tag then the OP probably would not have purchased the item.

So what your saying is you would never buy an item that had increased in price?

I assume the item used to be £44.99. Due to an increase in the business costs they increased the price to £49.99 but didn't update the label. I don't see what is wrong with this?

Especially when with a 20% discount the OP only paid £39.99.

Just to clarify I was happy to pay the price and keep the jacket. My question was can you legally charge more for an item than it is priced at. The discount of 20% off everything on the site makes it a good deal but if a store inflates it's prices and then offers a discount, the discount does not work out quite as much as you are expecting.

If the OP was given the 20% discount then that's fair enough.
I just presumed that the OP had paid £49.99.

I must admit that that is how I read the OP ... price paid AFTER discount was £49.99. But it is worded somewhat ambiguously, so it is also possible to see that the price was £49.99 LESS 20% discount.
