Virgin Broadband, phone and mobile bundle expensive

I'm actually quite happy with the service from Virgin and the Bband speed is acceptable but we're paying (after a few landline calls) nearly £50 / month which seems a bit high, I telephoned to try and get some reduction but didn't really get anywhere, should I just move providers ? - any advice very welcome ...

To move provider from VM you will (assuming you are on cable service and not Virgin National) first need a BT-based landline installing or reconnecting. There are no other cable providers than VM.
VM telephony is among the most expensive around, maybe you are on the wrong bundle? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I too have the same bundle and called them 2 weeks ago to ask for a more competitive price. They said no!
So I said ok, will go with someone else as I just cant afford it, with which they came back and said if I signed a 12 month contract (been with them for around 10 years!) then they would charge me £40per month (tv,broadband, landline). So ive gone to that. Hope that helps0 -
Always wise to speak to the disconnections teams. Although I'm pretty sure one of these years they are gonna just say, ok then and cut me off:rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Thanks for the advice, well I don't have the TV and am not sure I want it but here's what I have:
Your package
Talk Mobile 2 Talk 08 5 Talk Weekends Broadband XL(20)
Bundle Charges total£28.50
Telephone Line Rental £13.90
Your package total £42.40
Then of course there are always a few call charges ... ?0 -
If your call charges are more than £5 a month, then you'd surely be better off opting for an Anytime tariff? Not sure what VM charge, but with other providers usually around a fiver per month. that wil cover all your landline calls 24/7.
If you are ringing mobiles from your landline...don't! Use your inclusive mobile minutes. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thats cheap i pay £120 pm for my package but have everything including 100mb Broadband i think its a good price!0

Thanks sam, makes me feel a bit better, and macman - yes - even the guy on the Virgin phone suggested we use our mobiles for calls to mobiles ! - must try and do that ...0

I've found as we get more and more minutes with our mobiles, I rarely use the house phone, only for incoming calls and 0845 numbers etc. So have got rid of the talk packages altogether. I can go months without using it to ring out, so just payg for those 0845 numbers. And the occasional ring of my mobile when I've misplaced it again :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Good point Mazza, my wife spends a lot of time dialling her mobile number just to find it !0

If you really have to use the Virgin line, then consider routing through one of these providers instead ...

You can even use them with your mobile ...
Also don't forget if you are getting all three services with VM , then you are most likely getting a bundle discount , if you cancel any one of them that will be gone and you'll end up paying more!0
