Just an update on this, it is mentioned in martins weekly newsletter

IT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN SMALLER STORES

Larger stores only, it has not been communicated to smaller stores and is not coming through on their tills

Just had real problems in Newark ,Nottinghamshire store, on a £120 spend.

Please check before purchasing and don't miss out in smaller shops x

It's never been available in all stores, unfortunately. There is a list of participating stores on Boots website. I have placed an order online, as I can't easily get to a store (and even the bigger stores probably won't have everything) It's just not as good as it was a couple of years ago, when you got the same points for spending £50 online. I got some Moshi stuff for dd1 but a lot of other stuff was oos, and it kept throwing me out of my account and I had to log in again. I used to buy nearly all my Xmas presents from Boots, but not so much this year or last. The adults' gift range is getting worse. Not sure if I will bother with it at all next year tbh.
  • You can use a double points coupon as well in this event as the 1200 points are 1000 bonus plus 200 points on normal £50.00 spend so today I got 1400 points and a till voucher for 500 extra points on the next 1200 point event so will save my second use double points voucher for them.
  • I'm guessing the answer is no - but I have a voucher for £5 off selected perfume - can I still use this towards a £50 spend and get the points?

Yes, but I think as long as your spend is over £50 AFTER the voucher has come off x

    hopefully this will help...

you can add on the acm printouts of bonus points to your transaction...but as some will say not to be used in conjunction with points events it may be SA dependant on whether they allow this or not ;)

You can use a £5 wys £20 (or whatever) coupon on your spend..and as long as the total to pay after all money off coupons is over £50 you will earn the 1200 points.

Its worth noting that most staff are pretty good, and in the past I've used our smaller participating store to get gifts....which werent available instore...I've simply asked at the till if they will order me them for collection or delivery....that way, you can order them for your convenience, but still only spend the £50 to accumulate the 1200 points instead of spending £75 online at home :)

Also...generally you dont earn normal points on giftcards (i'm 99% sure this is correct)...so by purchasing those you probably wont get the bonus points either :(
hoping for a very MSE Ts glitching 2012!

No it can't... there's a lot of T&Cs but basically you can't use it on infant milk, medicines etc...

"Unfortunately you cannot spend points on Boots Opticians, Boots Hearingcare, mobile phone top-up cards, prescription items, infant milk (up to 6 months) gift vouchers/cards, postage stamps, Travel Services and Boots Insurance."

Says so in Terms here: http://www.boots.com/en/Christmas/Online-Advantage-Card-points-event/

All this tells me is that you can't use points to buy a phone top up. It doesn't say that the buying of a top can't contribute to the £50 spend. I will have a try of it later if I can get out.

You used to be able to buy gift cards, and mobile top up and still get the points.

I was hoping this was still the case as I need some iTunes vouchers for christmas.

ATM, Boots have 3 for £10 on John Frieda, including a lot that are 6.99 in both the Frizz Ease and Full Repair ranges. They also have offers on Lee Stafford, Umberto Giannini and others. Means you can get over £100 worth of products for £38 (if you include the points event)

I had a book of High street Vouchers and there was a voucher for 500 points if you spent £50 in vouchers. I asked the SA to scan and see if it would work and it did. I got 1700 points for my £50 spend :jHTH xx
  • I found a way round the missing £10 off perfumes.... found a voucher code on vouchercodes for 10% off when you spend over £90. Aftershave for hubby was £85 plus there was a fragrance set for my mum for £34.... £119 minus £11.90, £107 delivered plus 6% as a new user via Quidco, plus my free £12 of points means the aftershave comes down to £61 :p
