Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 30th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone!
I was awake a few times in the night and wide awake at 5.30:eek:
So having a cuppa now.
Today is the anniversary of my MS diagnosis:o Seven years ago today to be exact. It has it's moments and at the moment is not behaving itself. Still, I'll get over it soon.
Nothing planned today, did a bit too much yesterday, so going to catch up on the TV I've recorded instead.
Don't know about dinner either, buut there will be something I can put together:rotfl:
(((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) for anyone who wants one.

Morning Hilstep
I've been up since 5, bit early for a holiday lie in, still we have to be up by 5:30 next week as hubby starts back on the early shift.
No idea what the plans are for today, we may go & sort out a new phone for hubby as he is due an upgrade, or we may just potter in the garden as there is still plenty to do.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Now getting light, light cloud and dry underfoot with a blustery chilly wind here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg - only had to cook for myself and DH as boys went to mum and dads yesterday and were fed there. Remembered to get the chicken out of the freezer to defrost for tonight, so will do normal roast and trimmings.
Work was busy yesterday from the moment we opened the doors until late morning, then was steady, will see what today brings. Lunch will be a late one as won't eat until after work and I have a few jobs to do too.
Here a local man (66) has gone missing, he went for a walk last Tuesday and hasn't been seen or heard of since, can't imagine what his family are going through. When we got back at the weekend, we saw the Search and Rescue teams not far from where we live and wondered what was going on. Scary thought that in this day and age someone can just vanish and no-one sees or hears anything.
Have a great day everyone x

Good morning, horrible weather outside, big branch has fallen off my huge buddlia in the front garden so if there's a dry patch in the weather I'll have to clear that up.
Meeting up with one of the 'mum's network' (group of us who met when our disabled kids were young and have formed a lasting informal group) to talk about all the issues we are trying to deal with. Looking forward to it, as I haven't seen her for a couple of months and her son is quite similar to mine although her son is much more able, so we exchange ideas on behaviour management as well as talk about how to get things improved.
Also calling into the office briefly and then OH is coming for dinner tonight. Going to make fajitas with LOTS of chilli. He loves spicy food.
My relatives in the States are OK, but suffering stormy weather, my Uncle is visiting friends in Massachusets (sp????) so is without power. What a storm!
I really hate trick or treating, and dread kids coming to my door (not sure why) am I being a bit of a killjoy?'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Good morning all, very bleugh weather here this morning, cold and damp and very lowering skies.I am taking three of my DGS to the dentists this morning for their check ups.then back to their house as their Mum is carving the pumpkin this morning. The little one gets quite excited as he and his two next-up brothers Jack and Henry go trick or treating around their square tonight for half an hour. All the little ones do and my DD makes sure they all get a little something in their bags. They live in a square of around a dozen houses and all the children know each other .Its quite sweet really and they dress up in home made costumes and to be honest wouldn't dream of doing a trick on anyone ,mainly because they usually have their big brother Ben around to keep an eye on them.A little harmless fun for the small childrenProbably the last time Jack will do it as he becomes a teenager next year It doesn't seem that long since all five of them used to go now, its just three and will only be two next year.
I shall stay for dinner tonight there and DD decorates the sitting room as well and we will probably make some spooky biscuits this afternoona gingerbread cutout decorated in white icing as a skeleton and round cookies made to look like little spiders with liqourice laces for legs.We do apple bobbing and the kid get covered in water but a good time is had by all.
I am hopeing to hear later today if the airports are open and if DD and her OH can get home by this weekend.I believe the bridges are open off manhattan Island which is something.Thei hotel apparently have been brilliant and told them they can stay if they have to extra days which is good.
Well time to get a wriggle on and have a shower and some breakfast
Take care all

Morning all - reasonable weather here. I'm not working today (caught up on lots of work yesterday), so the 3 of us may pop out for lunch a bit later just to a local cafe. Not even thinking about the laundry which has overflowed the basket. Dinner last night wasn't very MSE; I went into Tesco on my home from work and grabbed 2 pizzas to share, only to find I'd got 3 when I went home, so one can go in the freezer. Planning a quiet day - I seem to have lost the impetus for decluttering as I'm struggling with pushing a full shopping trolley to Oxfam. Am reading the Elemental Mysteries series by Elizabeth Hunter on Kindle - chick-vamp-lit but far superior to the usual, and actually readable with a good plot linked to Renaissance Italy. The first book in the series was free on Amazon last time I looked.
Putting up the 'No trick or treaters' sign on the front door after lunch.

morning all
im not a kiljoy but we hate today. my little man is 8 and has a read phobia of people dressed up and gets really stressed when they come to the door. i live in a prime area for lots of trick or treaters..ie small estate thats well lit and he hates it. we always do pumpkins but thats about it.
nmlc - friend of mine has land in the prime searching area for that poor missing man...word is they are looking for a body and thats why they are in woodland etc. he was apparantly distressed when he left - although thats just gossip as it didnt say that in the paper today. they are talking of searching my friends lakes .... very very sad. how awful. i didnt know him but you hate the thought of it being near where you live. his poor wife. ive been to london for the weekend and when i took the cat to the cattery they were searching woodland opposite where we were.
i love school holidays. im still not dressed. me and the children are sitting under the blankets with a fruit salad ive just chopped. they eat loads of fruit if i chop and put it in a bowl.
slimming w0rld is going really well. i weigh in tomorrow and i estimate i have lost half a stone in three weeks and one week i was totally off plan. and that includes eating out in london.
had a lovely weekend in london. the first time we have taken the children. it costs a fortune though so definately no o s this weekend!!
physio today and consultant tomorrow to see how my arm is doing.
tea is sausages jacket potatoes/mash and veg. bought really nice quality chipolatas so i can have two and a massive jacket and loads of veg. i feel really quite full doing this diet.
have a good day everyone0
