Help Needed...bmw Mini Rip-off

Just to let you know, my friend had a new Mini and within a few months the same thing had happened and she did not have the strength to steer the vehicle out of the way of the car beside her because she had a bad arm.
She had lots of problems with Mini over this as it was an intermittent and they wanted to blame the accident on her.
The outcome was that Mini were forced to settle the problem.0 -
Not sure why your friend had lots of problems montyburns as this is a well recognised problem with the 1st generation Mini and always replaced under warranty. Or is it a 2nd generation Mini she has? If so this is a new model so of course there are lots (and I mean lots!) of problems still coming to the surface but these will all be covered by warranty! My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.-Erma Bombeck-~ Member of the MSE Celebdaq Minileague ~0

Still people buy them..incredible, never have worked out why.. :rolleyes:0

I am not sure if this only goes for second hand dealers but the Retail Motor Industry Federation have an arbitration service you can use to resolve disputes with dealers. The expect you to have made reasonable steps to resolve the matter directly with the dealer before they will get involved but in the meantime they will make a record of your complaint.0

She probably had a problem as her week hand caused the accident not BMW
If they could show that a fully functioning driver could have avoided the collision then they wont be liable for the damages etc
As for your friend were her insurance company aware of her injury/disability?
If not they could refuse to pay out and rightfully so
As for faults like this if you complain to BMW customer relations you should get a substantial discount
Companies are normally quite accomodating on cars just out of warranty especially when its an inherent fault as its cheaper to pay out than get the poor publicity0 -
my daughter has a mini cooper,it is 2 months out of warrenty, and the power steering pump failed. She bought the car second hand and it has not got a full service hitory. the car was supplied by grassicks in perth when new. I phoned grassicks about the problem after an independent garage quoted £607 plus vat for the parts. BMW are doing the whole job for £60!! Grassicks BMW Perth have just made a very happy 23 year old!:j0

Hi, just an update, steering pump replaced by main dealer at cost of £500 approx. Complained, showed copies of Mini2.com forum on issue and generally jumped up and down a bit, dealer contacted MiniUk on my behalf and hey presto, they refunded for the parts approx £370.
Regards
