Replace boiler?

I have been using a Hideaway Glow worm boiler for the last 15 years. The boiler has been serviced annually by British Gas and overall worked quite well. However, in Oct 2011 it developed a problem with the pilot light going out. 12 months and almost a dozen British Gas fitters later the pilot light is still going out. The boiler works fine for a number of days sometimes months and then randomly the pilot light goes out usually when the system is in "slumber" mode. Could anyone help with advice with repairing the issue or replacing the boiler?

Hideaways with a pilot light are notorious for not accepting universal thermocouples, which I bet BG have used.
I have had this problem many times, so now I only fit genuine Glow Worm ones. God knows what the difference is, I don't, apart from the price. About £20 + VAT for the genuine one.
I find this is also quite general with many old glow worm boilers.0 -
Many thanks:T. That sounds about right for BG. Are Thermacouples difficult to fit? Boiler is a Glow worm Hideaway 60. Would I be able to get parts for it also what's the "life" expectancy for these boilers?0

Technically as a thermocouple is a safety device, then I am forced to say 'no you can't fit it yourself'.
However, why should you with a BG contract?
I cannot say for certain that this is your problem and can only assume that BG have checked everything else and know what they are doing!!!
If that is the case, you could either ask BG to fit a genuine Glow Worm part, or buy it yourself and call them out to fit it.
There's always a risk that in your case it might not cure your problem though, so your £20 odd pounds could be wasted.0
