  • Im with Powergen , have been for years .
A couple of years ago i decided to go on to their Energy saver online tarif .
On monday evening i decided to give them a ring and see if i was still on the best tarif for my energy consumption .The lady i spoke to informed me that due to an error i was still being billed on my old tarif rates and had been for nearly two years . She said she would get it sorted for me next day .
Logged onto my account tues evening and to my delight found they had credited my account with £206 back payment .
Top marks to this lady and to powergen for resolving it so quickly

We went to the online system when we moved to our current house, over 4 years ago. After them (and us I admit) not checking the bills we owed nearly £1000 after 3 years!! Mainly as they (and us) hadn't checked the payments were correct. Although we were also at fault, you'd think they would have noticed we were owing so much (payments weren't upped when we moved house). In the end it was US who told them were had to pay more! That's not customer service!

Anywho.... Now it's paper bills all the way - we check it inch by inch every time. That way you never forget and can check so much easily. So no matter how much we could save going 'online' we would never ever do it again! Once bitten twice shy.
I'm sure other people will love the saving though.
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A
    I would like to be lucky,healthy & happy in 2020! :T
  • Thats the thing with bills on line , youve got to check them to make sure youre paying enough , although like you said , powergen should have noticed .

I'm was with powergen energyonline, their customer service is the BEST I have ever experienced, but I was willing to change IF the saving was big enough. Energyhelpline.com told me about engeryonline super saver 2 and that would save me £39 a year. I have just phoned Powergen and they said it would save me £35 a year (my figures might have been a bit wrong as I pay 1 amount for both and guessed the split), but I am well chuffed. The guy then asked me if I wanted to switch - OF COURSE I DO!!! I know need to tell my parents and anyone else who is with Powergen about energyonline super saver 2! (Though I need to stay alert as I have just read in another posting that the prices may go up at the end of April...???)

To those on the energy online extra saver tariff, (if it hasn't been mentioned before-apols if it has, but) please be aware that to benefit from the cheaper prices of the energy online extra saver version 2 tariff you have to call Powergen and actually request to be changed over. It wont just happen automatically. Got mine done today.

I think only you and me have called Powergen.Call only took around 4 minutes on their freephone number for around a £5 advanced saving.Don't blame me if you are saving extra cash on you fuel now.

British Gas have announced a further reduction from 26/04 from immediate effect

Watch out because BG are now top again.Await Powergen response.Don't forget to sign up to the Tesco Clubcard points scheme they do online. You don't need to be a Tesco customer just get a temporary card at any store and give them that number online immediately. One point every £1 you spend at Powergen.Worth 4 times the value at attractions. When you actual card comes through the post the membership number will be different.Just put that online to remove the temporary number.Easy peezy.
This makes Powergen cheaper than British Gas in real terms because you should earn over £5 in clubcard points.
For my area on Energyhelpine.com BG are £4 cheaper.Make sure you try to opt for monthly direct debit if you can.
Remember the Powergen tariff for Gas an Elec is called Energy online saver 2.
