Ebay - Restricted from selling permanently

Hi ebay has today restricted me from selling for good - 4 people have left me low stars for dispatch time - 2 spitefully & the other 2 were due to my son being unwell & in hospital. After an online chat with a member of the customer service team it transpires that should my husband set up an account to sell all of the stuff we need to (things are very tight & I'm a stay at home Mum) he will probably be restricted too. Can anyone advise on any alternative selling sites? The feedback these buyers left was positive & didn't mention the dispatch time. I already have a facebook page but despite sharing it on my page & various free/for sale pages am not getting any biters. Helpful advise please no I told you so's. :-)

Restricted for just 4 slow despatches????
  • Yep as that gives me 5.9% low stars they said.
  • Am now looking into Amazon - I guess it's easy to rely on ebay!

    The limit is 2%.

Still seems harsh to me - especially if left with positive feedback - as ebay often remove them now.

But with there being 4 close together - they are unlikley to listen - as a pattern as formed.

Amazon are stricter on dispatch than eBay, and stricter overall.

I agree a suspension is harsh, but you need to get things out promptly - there's no room for manoeuvre nowadays, between buyers and the site you sell on.

If you are borderline, an appeal might help.

I agree with Crowqueen , always try an appeal first especially if there are low stars in other categories and all positive remarks in feedback (ie no mentions of slow to arriveor anything).

However, again as per Crowqueen I think you will struggle on Amazon if you have had issues on eBay as amazon are much much stricter and their seller metrics are very harsh. You mention selling off bits and pieces and if that is the case you won't even be able to use amazon anyway as you need catalogue details for the items you sell and second hand goods are unlikely to have those . Also if you are selling toys or similar you have already missed the cut off for listing in 2012 as toys are restricted to sellers with a good history.

    Soo is right.

Amazon is great for books, DVDs, CDs, etc. - media items. I've had a good run over the summer and made £60 (after postage costs and fees) but things are flagging a bit now; I suspect more money is being spent on new items for Christmas and as I am not a business and could not afford to be one at the moment I can't compete.

  • Thanks for your advice. I have a lot of brand new books as I used to be an Usborne Organiser. I also have a lot of kids clothes but there are some shops I know of who will give me some cash for them so will try those. How do you appeal?
  • in this situation just for my personal interest what would happen if your partner already had a selling account in good order and you mearly asked if he would mind selling them for you? could they restrict your partner cause they way you run your account?

Yes they can and do. Anyone with an association is also in danger.

That's why I am always nagging my sons to make sure their accounts are maintained perfectly, I don't want to lose my business if they have issues on their own accounts.
