Oil system, how to improve

Iam buying a house with an older oil boiler and radiator system. I am looking at ways to improve it and lower the cost of use.

I had thought of removing the RAD system and replacing with storage heaters - cost too high

A new boiler (cost too high at present)

At present I am looking at servicing the boiler, flushing the system adding the usual inhibitors, replacing one or two rads that look dodgy and adding TRVs to all the Radiators.
Moving the airing cupboard and putting in a a much larger modern hotwater tank.

I will join the local oil club

Is there anything else I could do at a low outlay that will improve the system other than what i have suggested above.

  • Don't overlook insulation e.g. cavity wall, loft, draft excluders, underfloor etc

A low cost upgrade could be better boiler controls?

    Cheers
