My wife has a ACER ASPIRE 5630 laptop and has mistakenly uninstalled one of the games contained within the Windows XP Media Center Operating System.
She cannot find the CD that must have come with the machine from new, that may have helped.
We do have Acer Recovery Disks 1 to 7 but not having experienced this laptop I wonder if maybe someone could help out with this problem that the good lady has.
I looked into the Recycle Bin but it was not there so the game called Gem Master has vanished.
Kind regards
Bob

Or look in Windows explorer , and right click on Program Files and select properties. Then use the previous versions tab and see if there is one, then select open the one before it was lost , if it is in there then you can use system restore to restore that restore point. But stuff installed after that will not be there.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Is a Wild Tangent game. No longer available. The other one, Otto's Magic Blocks is still available.
Even if you have the discs, it won't help you, as the games would be downloaded from Wild Tangent via MCE anyway.
The last available link was here: http://www.wildtangent.com/mediacenter/gemmaster/english/gemmaster-english.exe 3.58MB
Other files just called gemmaster.exe are their rather nasty 'Web Driver'.0 -
Many thanks for all your inputs..
Figment I tried System Restore but no luck, good suggestion thanks.
debitcardmayhem On Programme right click-properties I got Task Bar and Start Menu but no previous versions tag - unless I did something wrong.
Kind regards

NiftyDigits Many thanks for your hard work. Really a shame that she wrongly uninstalled it as she really enjoyed the game.
I was always under the impression that I could retreive from the Recycle bin, that turned out a false hope. Thanks for your input.
Kind regards

You can have a go anyway.Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\Ehome and you should find "otto.mcl" and "gem master.mcl"
Double click on the relevant .mcl file.

We are getting somewhere, but not being a 'puter boffin I am a little confused with what it is doing.
I signed on Windows Messenger and it confirmed that I was online...
D/c on "gem master" it goes though the motions of attempting to connect, then stops and then displays Messenger Failure Please make sure that Windows Messenger is installed.

There should be a program in the program list called Acer Erecovery.
Within that program there should be a option where you can reinstall drivers and also applications.
Worth a punt.0 -

No, it's a third party application. If System Restore didn't recover it, there is no option but to re-install.0 -

Sorry, but I have no idea as to what Windows Messenger has to do with it. Can't see that anywhere within the instructions.0
