Parking Charge Notices

My daughter managed to pick up 3 of these over 3 days parking in Jocelyn Square Glasgow, in August, each of the notices is for £118. She insists she does not have to pay these and that we should just ignore them. The car park is operated by Euro Car Parks Limited. My wife has just received 2 letters from a debt recovery agency, Roxburghe Debt Collectors. Looking for some advice on whether these charges are legal and do we have to pay them? Also the car is registered in my wife's name and the notices are in her name, can she be black listed for non payment. As she wasn't driving is she legally bound to let them know the daughter was driving?

Your daughter is quite right. Just ignore these scammers as the charges are quite illegal and unenforceable - I'll also hazzard a guess that they are worded in line with English law, which makes them even more laughable for a ticket issued in Scotland.

Have a look in the parking board for any number of threads about ECP and Roxburghe and the Letter Chain thread will give you an idea of the progress of the scam. They cannot blacklist or do anything to harm your financial viability without taking you to court, winning and you failing to pay the judgment - and that won't happen for a good number of reasons/

The important thing now is that you must impress on your wife that she needs to have no contact whatosever with these jokers, as any contact now will only prolong the attempts to scam money out of you. :)

Out of curiosity, how did she manage to rack up 3 in 3 days?

Considering Jocelyn Sq's proximity to the High Courts, it may not be politic to ask! ;)
