confirming address paypal....how long?

I've sold loads of stuff on ebay and a large majority have been to unconfirmed addresses, without any problems.
But....I think I've been reading too much on here and it's got me paranoid! I listed a popular pair of trainers and knowing it would hit the £50 mark I put in my listing will not ship to an unconfirmed address.....as we all know, nobody bothers to read the listing!!! so winner has paid through paypal and yes it's unconfirmed, they also only have 1 feedback. I'm happy to sell and was wondering if I asked him to confirm his address is this an instant thing or do you have to wait (it was so long ago when I did I can't remember) and in the meantime do I refund. I don't accept cheques but I would at a push....or do you thing I should just tell him to send a postal order as that is the only other option stated.....thanks in advance

it should only take a couple of days
but I am not to sure
what you do is apply your bank account details to paypal
they put 2 amounts in your bank
then he/she has to verify what the amounts are
I did it a couple of years back and dont think it took long,
hope this helps

Isn't that the procedure just for opening a paypal account? I Think everyone has to do that , sorry if I'm wrong but thanks all the same0 -
If the money has been paid and transferred into your PayPal account i would just go ahead and send the goods. If you want to be ultra safe transfer all the funds into your own account out of paypal makes it a bit harder for them to get the monies back if any thing was fraudulent.0

I had this problem a few times the other day.The buyers were able to confirm their addresses straight away as the only reason their accounts wereunconfirmed was that they had changed the delivery address which made them ineligable and unconfirmed.Theychanged the address back to their registered card address and it was instantily confirmed.
So maybe just email them and aske them to confirm their address.
I refunded and one buyer did it straight away.I refunded the other one- who had dodgy feedback- and they said they weregoing to confirm there details but never did.
Your buyers can also pay by bank transfer as this is quick and doesnt cost them anything. The last one i did cleared in 3 days.0 -
I have refunded him and emailed basically saying either to confirm send a postal order or do a mutual npb...but have kept it polite.
It's my new motto....anything i think will go for over £50 needs to be confirmed.....but over the years must have sent loads of expensive stuff without batting an eyelid (she says touching wood!)0 -
my ebay account (which I have had for afew years now) is ME and my address is confirmed,
I did this by
1 adding my card details to paypal
2 adding my bank account details to comfirm my address,
then it says ME against my username on ebay

I tried to get (paypal) confirmed about a year ago but they never made the 'two small deposits' in my bank account.
So I just opened up a new pp account when my first reached its permenant sending limit.
And did the same again when the next one maxed out.
Paypants are such muppets that they don't check even though the associated address is the same.
By the time the current cc maxes out I'll have had them all replaced so will be able to go through the whole process again.

Funny... I got confirmed by paypal generating a 4 digit code for me, ringing me at home, then me punching the code into the phone. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Are you saying that they no longer do the 'making two small deposits in your bank account' thing where you wait a week, check the amounts and enter them into a pp page to complete the confirmation process?
That was what was required (after the phone confirmation) when I tried but they never made the deposits.0 -
I did both. But that's all about your bank account, isn't it? What's it got to do with your address? My TV is broken!
