Phone and report it. When I had problems with outgoing mail a few years back they were very very helpful.

Just remember though, as far as many sellers on MSE are concerned you are now a scammer as many believe things cannot possibly get lost in the post despite many of us experiencing losses first hand

I don't think MSE is as bad as Seller Central. We can see exactly what OP's problem is - and this mingles with seller threads so people can maybe see it from the other POV.

Now the Buyer/Seller boards are split off from each other instead of having one single Community Q&A, it's slightly better for buyers (they get more sympathy and more time devoted to their threads even if they are not directly lambasting eBay for something) but neither side really 'talks' to the other. So you get all the people saying one thing on the seller board and one thing on the buyer board, plus the people who never go to the buyer board except to post threads lecturing them on some issue, and those people who think every buyer with an INR should open a dispute so eBay can keep an eye on them.

The worrying thing for the OP is if the sellers 'talk' to each other. The new report a buyer thing might kick in - which is why if OP can stop buying online for the moment they might limit any damage.

Your report to Royal Mail just may be the last bit of a push they need to investigate a worker/s. There has been some complete horror stories and Royal Mail do need to do more to limit the amount of thefts by their employees. The amount some have been able to steal before it being noticed is amazing

    Here is just a sample

Postman who hid 75,000 items of mail
Royal Mail postman charged over 70,000 missing letters
COPS hunting stolen mail found more than 10,000 letters and parcels in a garage — with a postie’s bike. Photos included with this storie.

    Thing with those stories
    eg the 1st

    75000 items.wow!
    then when you read
These included 70,000 pieces of junk mail, which made up the vast majority of his hoard.

    So thats 70K unaddressed items
thats the type of stuff many people wouldnt even notice(or care) about not getting
so its the 5K that matter
5K items could be less than a weeks worth of items if they were still delivering some mail/packets
working for RM carrys a massive amount of trust given half the shift(for deliveries) is unsupervised
