Having install problems here too...
Having read in the upgrade t&cs -While the offer will be limited to eligible customers who purchase a qualified PC, the upgrade may be installed on any compatible Windows-based PC with a qualifying operating system
Now left with a 64bit W8 and key that I've paid for and can't use.
Complete plonker I know
Any ideas anyone?0 -

I thought I'd download W8 from a new W7 laptop then use it to upgrade a Vista(!) laptop, forgetting that the W7 was 64bit while the Vista was 32bit and of course it won't install.

Can't imagine that a key is locked to 64 bit version. Simply download the 32 bit or 64 bit version of your choice by asking me nicely.0 -
Hi
I've just had to get a refund as each time the Upgrade Assistant to 100%, I just got Access Is Denied.
Windows 7 to Windows 8, I thought it would be straight forward, I tired all the suggestions, I even managed to get Microsoft Help to suggest a couple of things, which did not work either.
OIn the end, the refund process was simple, shame the upgrade was not as simple.
MartinBeen there, done that, now I want to do it cheaper!!0 -

Hi all. I'm now typing from the land of windows 8. The factory reset and reinstall over a clean W7 seems to have done it. Sorry about the confusion with the install file location. It was obvious when I got back into my email account. W8 seems strange at first but I'm sure I'll grow resent it as I have with all previous versions ;-)
Thanks for the help.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
