Monday 29 October daily thread Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 29th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning mnlc and everyone,
Back to work today after half term, even with the hour change it is really dark!
Hugs to Molly, LW, Beemuzed and Hilstep and anyone else I have missed.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Woke up with massive bellyache, Dreading the fact that I've got 5 days to do at work this week
Weekend goes too quickly0 -
Morning all
Hugs to Molly, LW, Beemuzed and Hilstep, I hope the week goes ok Carly.
I've taken hubby a cuppa in bed, I'm sat here with tea & porridge, not quite so cold today, the heating hasn't come on.
I have washing on the rads & another load in the machine, hopefully that will be it 'til the end of the week.
Not sure what we are doing today, may go & have a look at the new B&M that has opened near us, I tried last week but there was a huge queue just to get into the car park & I'm not interested enough to queue for hours.
Time I went & fed the fish, have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning peeps
Quick post from me, off to Bath for the next few days so no OS here. Well apart from the packed lunch I am doing for the kids but confess that's more out of necessity for DS than anything else
Might take the kids round the Roman baths, not sure I can convince them the Jane Austen museum will be good :rotfl:
Going to find some parks and get lots of fresh air and explore the area :T:T
Hugs and spoons all round xxx
Carly xxxx hope work isn't as bad as you expect xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Now getting light, light cloud and damp underfoot but not raining. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Can't believe I'm awake and up at this stupid early time, think it's a mixture of not sleeping very well several nights last week, being away for the weekend and then the clocks changing, but at least I have a day off today! Weekend was great, cooked a meal for our friends Fri night all went down well and the salmon I cooked for us ladies, cooked beautifully, the menfolk enjoyed their chicken - so everyone was fed and watered (well was washed down with a few bottles of vino!!) - but did manage to leave the cheesecake in the fridge at home, although I did have the fruit salad and cream, so all was not lost!! We didn't spend hardly any money whilst away either, just the site fee, diesel to go, I cooked Friday night with food I took from home, Sat I bought coffees, then we had a light lunch in a church cafe, 1 x large ham salad bap, 1 x large mozzarella and tomato bap, 1 x plate of chips and 1 bottle of 7up - was just over £13 - whilst not cheap certainly not expensive for central London. After we'd been in our meeting their was a light tea buffet - was very nice food, so when we got back to the site, friends did us small jacket potato each and that was enough. I did cook a full english yesterday morning for me and DH before we left as we knew he had to go to collect his van for work today, I had to go and collect the boys - so wasn't sure what time it would be before we could eat - but had a good clear run there and back and was back home just after 4.30pm - having already driven back from London and dropped caravan off at 1.45pm. We're not away now for 2 weekends, but the next time we're away is a big weekend as DH takes over as Chairman of our Region, looking forward to it but a bit scared, I think he is too, but he wouldn't admit it!!
Today my day off will consist of, going to next town to purchase new trainers for DS2 and a study guide for DS1 - don't want to be too long as have a dirty wash basket that is overflowing, and as I lost a day on Friday, I haven't got all the normal jobs done, so will definitely be a busy bee.
Dinner tonight will be gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash and peas, and cheesecake and cream. Bought some YS leeks on thursday, want to make some leek and potato soup - so will get that going when we get back, will freeze some too for lunches.
Have a great day everyone x

Good Morning chums ,well its not looking nice outside at the moment and I'm not too sure just yet where we are going with the boys today but definitely out somewhere.
My eldest DD texted me last night as New York has virtually shut down because of Hurricane Sandy and she's right in the middle of Manhattan which is a bit worrying. She said all the food shops have been emptied but her and her OH managed to find an Irish bar and filled their boots last night and managed to get some snack food to take back to their hotel in case they couldn't get out today The big storm is supposed to be there today so they will stay inside hopefully safe and sound.I tell you she is a Jonah when it comes to a holiday .They went to Greece a couple of years ago and got caught in an earthquake, then Florida and ended up with the kids in the bath with the matress over them for shelter when a big hurricane struck. That time my son-in-law texted me to say 'Don't worry alls well its only the building next door that's fallen down !!! I wouldn't go on a day trip to Bognor with her she is jinxed I think :)Still she is keeping in touch and no doubt will be able hopefully to tell us all about it when she comes home this week end
Right I'm off for my breakfast take care everybody and stay warm

Morning all - bitty kind of day ahead. GP appointment, into work, out almost immediately for part of an external conference in the boss's place, back to work for HR meeting, then home to cook for DH and Mum. Don't think I'm going to get any actual work done. I am at least back up to 4 days' working instead of last week's 3. Dinner will be a chop of some kind with cauli cheese, Yorkshires, carrots, peas.
Have a good day, everyone"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -
