ShanShan – Thanks for posting and Happy New Year to you too. Have a great 2014 x

Yesterday was my first day back at work and it was quite busy so went quite quickly. I had planned to go to the Post office on my way home and post all my Ebay sales then go to the gym and have a bit of exercise. However the plan changed. I got so wet getting to my car both from work and getting to the Post office, that I had no choice but go home. Instead of going to the gym I decided to spend some time with Sidney! I had an hour or so before a friend was coming round for a visit so I made good use of my time and did a few draft sales for Ebay. All ready to list on Thursday. My friend arrived armed with loads of gifts. I have not seen a lot of him recently as he has been confined to bed for a few weeks due to ill health. Anyway he bought me loads of stuff. We are more like family than friend. He loves to treat me as I help him when I can. He is disabled and unfortunately doesn’t have a lot of people in his life. Anyway he bought me a huge box of Thornton’s, some perfume, a Sainsbury’s gift voucher, a large tin of lip balms and a printer for my computer! I was completely ruined. Anyway we spent most of last night setting up the printer. It will make doing my family tree so much easier. I was very surprised at my gifts but also delighted. I know he values all the help I give him.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day.:)

Yesterday was another work day for me. I just kept busy so the day passed really quickly. Unfortunately I got soaked to the skin going home as the weather was so bad. After work I spent the rest of the day at home doing chores etc- on the laptop, 2 lots of washing, phone calls and cooking. I made "minced beef hash" from the Aldi magazine and its lovely. I am going to put some in the fridge and freeze the rest.
For tea I had a small bowl of BNSQ soup followed by roast chicken, carrots and cabbage - all home cooked. All this healthy eating makes me feel good. its just a bit time consuming but worth it.
My friend/neighbour asked me to go for another walk with her last night so I did. The time just flew by as we were chatting.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day.

polesalot - Thanks for posting. I have decided to go to the running event this week but thought I should explain a bit of my history. For about 15 years I was a compulsive road runner and used to run 6 miles per day (at least). Even used to run on a Christmas Day!! Basically I lived to run. Anyway 5 years ago I was involved in a terrible accident which meant i was in bed for a long time recovering. Once i had got walking again I built things up over about a year and had a try at running again. To cut a long story short, i found i had trouble with my balance and it put me off going out running on my own. So.....I started to got to the gym and use the running machine (where I can hold on if needs be). Anyway now i have spoken to a few people i feel as though i could be confident running in a group, which is something I`ve never done before. Always ran on my own. All I can say is watch this space and see how i go on !!!

6 miles a day! Well I can't teach you anything :rotfl:

Hi vasseur - I think the single most important factor in my running "career" was that I had a husband and 4 boys at home and I wanted a bit of "me" time !!! It was the only way I could get some peace and quiet some days :rotfl: x

I have had a busy couple of days. Yesterday my family friend the builder turned up to do some jobs to try and prevent the leaking water in my house. Anyway he did a days work, resealing and this that and the other. He has told me that all i can do now is wait and see if the water keeps coming in. If it does then he will have to have a further look. He has had a good look at my roof and has told me to get saving up. Although the roof is not in desperate need of replacing, it will need doing soon. So......back to the saving up. Anyway I am keeping my fingers crossed that he has sorted out the problems, however it all looks the same at the moment unfortunately. Loads of wet patches all over the place.
Once the builder had set to work i went to visit my aunt in the nursing home. I then went to the gym and did my hour on the treadmill followed by my zumba class. It was good fun. I bought a bit of veg from the market (potatoes, cauli and sweet red peppers). I also bought a few greetings cards at a good price. When I got home i spent a few hours cooking. i am really enjoying eating all this healthy food. I made 2 huge pans of soup - cauliflour, and then red pepper and sweet potatoes. I have put some in the fridge for the next day or so and the rest has gone in the freezer.
Today has been good so far. I was up nice and early and went to the gym (where else ?). I did my hour on the treadmill and had a dart round the market before my dance aerobics class started. Bought quite a lot of fruit - melons, kiwi, tangerines and sharon fruit. I dont need to go to the supermarket this week for a big shop so just got what fruit and veg I needed.
Once home i took Sid to the park for a run round which she loved. Most of this afternoon has been spent doing chores and putting lots of things on Ebay. This is the year that i get rid of loads of stuff. I have listed quite a lot today as it is the type of stuff that will require minimum packing. I need to make as much money as i can for my savings fund. I am going for a walk a little later with my neighbour and its lovely to chat to her whilst we exercise.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day.:)
  • Had a nice couple of days although I was quite cross yesterday. I got up early and went to the gym and did my usual 60 minutes, then flew round the park with Sid all so that i could meet a friend for lunch at 12 o'clock so she could be back to pick her children up. Got to the pub out of breath after all my running round and she didn't show up !! I am waiting to hear her reason !!! Anyway I did a bit of reading to pass the time before my usual tea time zumba which was great fun. Had a busy Friday night as 2 of my sons turned up and 2 of my grandchildren who stayed overnight.
This morning I dropped my baby grandaughter off with her mum so I could take my grandson to the cinema. We saw "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2". he loved it. I had a bit of a snooze ! We played games for a couple of hours after lunch before my grandson went home.Thats when i got myself busy. I made a pan of sweet potato and sweet red pepper soup plus a pan of corned beef hash. I have just been out for a 45 minute walk with my neighbour as part of her slimming world exercise. I am enjoying spending the time with her. Got a great bargain at Asda this morning when i went for some milk. 6 big bunches of flowers at 10p each. I am visiting my aunt in the home tomorrow so i will be taking a lot f them with me.
Anyway feet up tonight as i had a disturbed night last night feeding the baby. Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day.

  • Sunday was a nice day. I went to the town centre gym at 8am and had my 60 minutes on the treadmill. I had to hurry back home so I could get a quick shower and get spruced up as I had a busy day planned. Firstly I met my cousin at the nursing home to see my aunt and then we had a lovely afternoon out at a large shopping centre just browsing and having a few stops for coffee. It was just really nice and leisurely. I didn’t actually spend anything apart from for the coffee as I didn’t really see anything I wanted to spend my money on now I am saving up. (I have decided to get my roof done when I have enough money, but it might take a while to save it). When I got home one of my sons came round for a visit. I did some clothes alterations for him. Spent the rest of Sunday packing up my sold ebay items. I am just plodding on with my sales and am doing quite well. I don’t actually have a plan in mind for the money……probably just put it to the roof fund or use it for my bills when I pay them in April (Council tax, car insurance etc). I am actually surprised at the stuff people are buying, which I would have either given to the charity shop or put in the bin! I have still got loads to sell but the pile of stuff has definitely reduced.
Yesterday was work for me. It went quite well and I called at the post office on my way home. Spent about £15 on postage. I am taking the postage money out of my Ebay PayPal account so I don’t end up paying the postage out of my own funds. Did a bit more Ebay draft listings when I got home. Also a bit of ironing as I am selling some items of clothing. After tea I called for my neighbour and we went for an hours walk……in the rain! I actually enjoyed just having a chat. It was really good.
Anyway its work again for me today….so I hope everyone has a great moneysaving day.:)
  • Had a good couple of days. Was at work yesterday till lunch time. On my way home I called at Aldi and got some bits of shopping - veg, fruit, salad, eggs, fish and some meat. Only spent £12 but got some "good" food. One of the things I am trying to do this year is to say "yes" to more things socially. So last night I went out with a friend for a cheap meal at the carvery. It was nice just to have a catch up and have some company. In the past I have come up with a catalogue of excuses for not doing things.....but this year I am going to just say "yes".
This morning I managed (in the light of trying new things) to book for a new zumba class. Its on a Thursday tea time. I am going to go tomorrow and see what its like. If I enjoy it, I will book for next week. First thing today I took Sid to the park then made my way up to town. i bought some more fruit off the market and also got a big bargain of 5 caulis for £2. I went in the gym and did my hour on the treadmill. Mind you I needed to exercise as I ate a ton of food yesterday. After the gym I did my zumba class. I also called in at the £ shop and stocked up on a few necessities - beechams powders, baby wipes, nivea cream - all stuff i needed. When I got home I did a bit more photographing for ebay then made a huge pan of cauliflower soup with cauli number 1!!! I am going to put it in the fridge and have for lunches over the next few days.
Anyway I have just had my tea and been out for another 40 minute walk with my neighbour. She had her first Slimming world weigh in last night and lost 3lb. She was delighted and thinks that the walking was a big contributing factor !!
Anyway I am just going to chill for the rest of the night as I have got a busy day lined up for tomorrow. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day.:)
  • I was up quite early yesterday and off to the gym. Did my usual 60 minutes on the treadmill then had a bit of a potter round the shops and also a visit to my greengrocer for leaves for the piggies. Back to the gym and did my dance aerobics class which i always enjoy. I came straight home as my work friend was calling for a cuppa and a chat before he went to work. After he had left I took Sid to the park and then got down to listing more eBay items. I have been listing the items for 10 days so they get the most coverage. Practically everything I list every week sells, which is encouraging. I still have loads of stuff left and i really want to sell it all - firstly as its just clogging the house up and secondly its great for additional funds.
I decided to have have a try at juicing yesterday afternoon. I have a friend who swears by it. She juices loads of vegetables and puts a bit of fruit with it for sweetness. So.....out came the juicer and i made a jug of green slime - cabbage leave, celery, carrots, kiwi and pineapple. It was actually delicious. I am going to carry on with it for a while and see if i notice any benefits. My friend says she feel full of energy. I actually feel like that most of the time anyway !! We shall see. It is a good way of making sure i am getting my 5 a day.
At tea time i decided to go to my new zumba class. I am so glad i did. Although i didn't know any of the dances, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and felt great afterwards. I have booked for next week already. So that's 2 new things I tried yesterday and I feel positive about both of them
Anyway got a few things lined up for today so better get moving. I hope everyone has a great moneysaving day.
  • Its been a hectic couple of days. I had a bit of a lie in yesterday, then took Sid to the park once i was up and about. Did a few chores- I have bought some "Beware of the dog" signs which I put on my gate as one of my neighbours was burgled last weekend. Also did a bit of eBay photographing. At lunch time i met my friend at the carvery and we had a good catch up. When I got home i had a nice little surprise waiting for me. £25 win on the premium bonds. Just had enough time to get changed then off out to zumba which was great fun as usual. On the way home I called for 2 of my grandchildren who stay over most Fridays. No sooner had i got home than my eldest grandaughter appeared and had obviously decided she was staying the night as well. Lets just say I am really tired now but i know i am so lucky as i have 3 gorgeous children in my life who love coming to stay at my house. God knows what would happen if I ever got a boyfriend !! Today all 3 have been with me up till tea time and we have just spent the day playing and going to the park. My friend who is also my neighbour joined me with her grandson. Anyway I am knackered now and after a bit of a tidy up and a chill out, I will be having an early night !!
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day.
