Buying a new telly . . freeview and BT Vision

We are considering investing in a new telly. We already have all the freeview channels/iPlayer through our BT Vision box and use this to record programmes too.

Should we purchase a new TV with freeview integrated in to it? and then what becomes of our BT Vision box?

Some advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

You can't buy a TV without a Digital Terrestrial Tuner so your problem is moot.
Your BT Vision box will continue to work as before as it connects to your TV via Scart which bypasses the internal tuner.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • You can keep using your existing box instead of built-in tuner, I see no problem why not. It's always your choice and it will be working the same way as on your old TV via SCART or HDMI.

But much better to ditch BTV and get a YouView PVR instead. Why pay for Freeview?

Because you can get video on demand on BT Vision, as well as Freeview?

Not that I pay anything for BT Vision anyway, but the old "pay as you go" tariff is no longer available to new customers.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Which is what you get with YouView without a contract or monthly subscription.

You can get video on demand with new Smart TVs, all you need is an internet connection to the TV.

And BTV is a very limited on-demand service anyway. Not to mention that it also ties you into BT's overpriced broadband service.
