We did the same trip on Saturday 27th (the night after this delayed trip) and a couple who had travelled on that boat did get their transfer to Amsterdam because they had a hotel booked there.

We could easily have been on the delayed boat but it is always more expensive to travel on Fridays. Our 2 for 1 trip cost just £40 each and we do it every year when the offer is on.

I think I would have been a bit miffed with the delay but the free meals people were offered would have made up for it!

  • P&O are revised by themselves, they are the biggest ferry, cruise cargo company in the world. P&O always dock at Rotterdam and then you catch a bus provided by them. They have never and will never take you to Amsterdam partly because Amsterdam is no where near water. P&O also will not be held responsible if you didn't like what you got. They don't offer a money back service if you thought it wasn't good enough. They accept critism but friendly and also they usually send all complaints to their boss. They read it and if they think your talking !!!!!!!!, they will send you a kind letter saying !!!! off and then bin your original.

The ferry docks at Eoropoort not Rotterdam which is 20 miles away.

Amsterdam is near to the sea and large use the waterways to get there.

The Newcastle ferry docks 20 miles from Amsterdam.

We went on one of the canal boat trips and we sailed around where the ferry used to dock before Europort was built and there was a cruise ship there. Admitted it was smaller than the P&O ferry but it was there!

This photo from Wikipedia shows the river/canal that runs to the North Sea. I can't remember if they said that it was canal or river but I do remember the tour guide saying that it was where the all the ferries used to use prior to Europort. I think DFDS still go to Amsterdam but I may be wrong.
