Who can take back the phone for o2s 7 day return policy?

After not getting to grips with the wifes S3, after months of dilly-dallying i finally bought the iphone 4S today (i am/was a 3GS user).

Anyway she's only 2 weeks into it so still learning it after also having a 3GS previous & she made something of a 'breakthrough' today, making it easier for me to see how things work etc

Short of it is, im now wondering if ive bought the rigt phone. The receipt says i have 7days to return, but that runs until next Saturday & i'll be working next weekend. I'm also working 7:30am-6:00pm throug the week so getting to an o2 store myself is going to be difficult/impossible. I paid by credit card if this makes a difference.

So on that note, could someone else, such as my mother take the phone back & either get a refund or exchange for an S3?

If you change your mind about your purchase

If the product you’ve bought isn’t quite what you wanted, you’ve got 7 Working Days to:

    1. Swap it for something else (you can only do this once). If you choose a more expensive product, you’ll need to pay the difference.

    Or

    2. Get your money back

You’ll still have to pay for any service you’ve used (like calls, texts or data, including roaming). We'll charge you for this after you’ve brought the product back.
    ....
What you need to know about returning your purchase to us
How do I return my product?

You should take it back to where you bought it from. If you bought it from an O2 shop, you can take it back to any O2 shop.

If you bought it online or over the phone from us, you’ll need to give us a call to find out how to send it back. You’ll find the right number to call on your bill or here; o2.co.uk/contactus.

What do I need to return?

You’ll need proof of purchase, the product, all the original parts and any accessories, free gifts and if available, packaging.

Will I need proof of purchase?

Yes. You’ll need a till receipt, despatch note or copy of your bank or credit card statement showing the transaction.

Will I need to pay anything?

You’ll have to pay for any service you’ve used (like calls, texts or data, including roaming). We'll charge you for this after you’ve brought the product back. Your call charges, particularly those made when abroad, may not be available immediately so we may have to charge you for these later.
    Note: it's 7 working days.

You might find that Saturday is classed as a working day as well not just Mon-Fri as per normal understanding

This is one i was coming back to ask.

Do o2 class Saturday as a working day? Saturday is a working day for my job i know that much.

Even still, that should still give me next Sunday. I bought the phone today, so the clock begings Monday i would imagine, ending either the following Monday if including Saturdays or the following Tuesday if not.

I hate things that aren't crystal clear.

On the same webpage they say that according to DSR they "give you 7 working days to change your mind".
I am pretty sure that DSR don't count Saturday as a working day.
It would be odd if the term 'working day' had different meanings on the same page.

If you bought it online you have 7 working days (Not inc Sat's) to cancel ...providing you return it within reasonable time it's not a problem
It's not just about the money

    i didn't though - (i bought it in store).

Things aren't looking good from the off. I knew the 4S battery life wasn't great, but then what smartphone battery is.

With my 3GS (& the 4S is supposed to have a more powerful battery), i would charge my phone @ 100%, go to bed, wake up & it'd be around the 97%-100% mark (& this is a 2 year old battery).
Charged my 4S last night, 100%, went to bed & woke up as normal .... 90%.

3G off as with the 3GS
WIFI off as with the 3GS
bluetooth on as with the 3GS
No apps running as with the 3GS.
In fact the 3GS has more push notifications enabled too.

The FOI classes working day as
Section 10 of the Act defines a working day as “any day other than a Saturday, a Sunday, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a day which is a bank holiday under the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 in any part of the United Kingdom.”
so would think that is the 'official' government definition will appear in or be assumed in the majority of Acts and SIs produced.

I got in touch with o2 via their live contact when it was finally up & working.

They confirmed the final day would be a week on Tuesday.

    My concern now is jailbreaking...

I've read when you take your phone to Apple to get fixed, they vet it for traces of jailbreak & if they find it (even if you've done a reset) then they refuse to fix it.
I'm wondering if o2 would do something similar? I want to jailbreak it so i can install different themes/lockscreens etc

[STRIKE]You definitely want to take abusing O2's generous returns policy to extreme.
    Personally, I don't wish you luck. [/STRIKE]

Restore it back to default, o2 supplied phone repairs under warranty can be taken in by anyone to a o2 store with your mobile number and name & address, I gather anyone could take it back with the receipt on your behalf unless the policy is different and it must be the purchaser ?

I would email head office for clarification, ronan.dunne@o2.com there is no room for a CEO or his team to go back on their word, he legally is binding himself under law for him or any employee he delegates to answer your email.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
