How to get oil out of my tank

Currently live in a rented property - had to put some oil in the tank but there's no way I will use it all before I move out next month (when i moved in watchman said 1, now says 5 and has to be on 1 when I move out). Property I am moving to has Oil heating as well so is there any way of getting the oil out of the tank at my current property (and leaving the watchman at a reading of 1)? There is a sticker on the side of the tank saying it is alarmed?

You will need a pump http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=hand+fuel+pump&_sacat=0&_from=R40
and some containers to transport it in. Just take the filler cap off, insert the pump and away you go. How many litres do you want to take away ?0 -
was on 1 now on 5 !!!
So youre possibly looking at 800 + litres of fuel oil that you want to syphon / pump out.....good luck you'll need it and a lot of jerry cans / oil drums. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
My tank has a watchman and also says it's alarmed - it means that if you siphon out oil then the alarm on the watchman remote indicator starts to sound. The idea being that if someone is nicking your oil or a sudden leak occurs you are alerted. Taking out the battery stops my alarm!
However, as for transferring 400 to 500 litres of oil... good luck as that's a lot of work and you'll need a lot of drums or travelling back and forth.
paying for someone to do this probably will cost nearly as much as the oil is worth I suspect.

I realise i'm not going to be able to move all of it, I had 500 litres delivered. I have a pump already (the red/black one on the link posted above) and I have 4 x 25l containers. Even if I can get 100l out thats something. Yes I have a watchman and the tank says it is alarmed. If i take the batteries out (I presume you mean taking them out of the watchman that i plug into the socket) will I be able to put them back in again afterwards and get a correct reading. If it doesnt work all I can do is ask my landlord if he will reimburse me as the inventory says the watchman reading was 1 when I moved in.A home is not a home ..... without a dog0

Just sell it to the next guy or the landlord who can then sell it to the next guy. Simples.

Try contacting some of heating oil suppliers in your area and ask would they transfer it for you. I did this around a year ago and from memory they charged something in the region of £50 to move the oil from my old house to the new one0
