I had no idea you were a bloke!
Does anyone else get a picture in their heads about what a person might look like/be like in real life?
It's OK Fruball
I guess some forum areas, it is just assumed what gender we are but I think I can tell mostly who is who especially when they talk of children/families and the terms used..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

If you feel the cold more than other people you may have hypothyroidism,(underactive thyroid), another very common symptom is feeling tired even after a good nights sleep. There are many other symptoms, google it and have a look. You can ask your Dr for a test but many people suffer with it and come out as 'normal' on the test the NHS uses.0

I thought I could too! But evidently was very wrong! lol
I am going to have to conjure up a whole new image and identity of you now :rotfl:0 -
A couple of years ago I managed to get hold of some silk thermal underwear and I can't believe the difference it makes. Having said that, it was heavily discounted, or I would never have been able to afford them. I have one pair long johns, and two vests, and I hand wash them very, very gently and only wear them when it is really cold. They have to last!
I also wear cotton vests which are not expensive from M&$ and I swear by them for now (October/November time). Polo neck cotton jumpers with an over-cardigan can look stylish over jeans, but I don't think jeans keep you warm - if they were, how would Americans bear to wear them in California?
I've taken to wearing cotton trousers during the day at the moment with slippers around the house most of the time, and when I get cold, I put cotton sox on too.
Most clothes seem to be manmade fibres these days - in my experience they do not keep you warm. I don't like the feeling of wool next to my skin, so cotton or silk seems to work best for me.Better is good enough.0 -

I'm not perfect but as long as you don't think too unkindly of me that will be fine...
Honey Bear,
Virtually all my clothes are cheap or sourced from charity shops now and in fact the CS I use everything costs 99p!
I do virtually all that you suggest Honey Bear but many of the clothes that I thought were wool have turned out to be manmade but soft and quite cosy and are Acrylic.
But I have found they are from shops like Greenwoods, M&S, Next etc...I have also managed to find some decent coats for the same price. But like you I do wear what I believe they call Lounge Trousers(socks)Dressing gown and yes slippers...
I don't care what I wear indoors but I think fellas don't have to bother as much about style. When I go out as long as I reasonably smart(and I am warm enough)that does me. As far as I can see it will be this way from now on...
I hoped as I got older life would be easier and more comfortable but I think the best is past and it will become more difficult and a struggle managing on less income and making what I have stretch as far as possible..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I couldn't possibly think unkindly of you
Thank you:o:)
The internet is wonderful for bringing us together but sometimes how nice it would be to talk face to face perhaps over a cup of tea...
It does show that sometimes when things look bleak and we think the world a selfish place, there are still "Nice" people to be found...but I find most of my best friends and who care the most are to be found on line...
Also it brings so many of us together of all ages and walks of life, sometimes that would not happen in real life and you know in general it shows we are not much different and we all generally want the same things for our families and friends and our fears are similar."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Thank you craigywv,
I'm young at heart and very tolerant and caring(even if I say so myself);)
I don't know what has happened but today I feel very positive and yet I have booked an appointment to see my Dr just to see if he thinks I am doing ok. I nearly cancelled but it does no harm.
And then...I'm off to watch an organised firework display(haven't done that in years)so I'll make certain I am wrapped up.
Sometimes things look bleak when written down but I think I am doing quite well "Early Days" and it's all new as many of the situations of those that post on these threads are having to face...we all have to find the way that suits us best.
I'm quite warm today and the sun is shinining and don't ask why but though it has been frosty outside I have been cosy in bed.
One of my posts a few back looked quite sad...that's not my nature, I am usually cheerful without being annoyingly so...:rotfl:
If I can offer support and understanding to others that does me good. I have learnt so much myself through using the forum. And appreciate the friendship shown to me..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I've previously thought the same Popperwell - you seem like the type of person I would like to meet in real life. You have your location listed as Co. Durham though, which is an awful long way to travel for a cuppa! :rotfl:
I guess that's the difficulty with meeting people online, it can be very difficult to actually meet them for real as they could be anywhere in the world. I have also found from meeting people met online that sometimes they are different online. I'd like to think that I am always myself, but things like tone don't tend to come accross when written down and people may have a very different view of me to how I am in RL...
This is going off topic though, so apologies. Perhaps it would be fun to have a thread describing how we perceive OS regulars?Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
