does it count as a spend if the money has already left my bank and is in cash?
Quick question though.......if I put aside some money from today for something I need to buy on Saturday will Saturday still count as a NSD or not?

It's really up to you how you run your challenge ..... for me, I need to cut down on silly wee spends in shops - popping into shops at lunchtimes and coming out with a magazine I don't need etc!

So .... if I take say £30 cash out but then don't count the individual spends then it doesn't really get me anywhere IYSWIM?

BUT there are some things that I have to pay in cash each month - eg the window cleaner, massage etc, that I do take money out on payday and put aside and don't count these as individual spends - this could also be for things like bus fares if you pay them daily but take the money out weekly, clubs for the kids etc etc. HTH:)
Achieved by using my bus pass rather than automatically getting in the car - and paying hospital/other car parking charges, to say nothing of petrol for the 30 mile round trip. :T The bus stop's about 200 yds from the house so I should have been doing this for years - well, the very few years I've had a bus pass. It's really relaxing too. I'm going to have to keep this up though to reach 15

:jto the bus pass - and having a bus stop so close & handy!

    Well done everyone.

I am failing miserably, I have had a bad week in general and it has affected my spending.

Nooooo you're not! Not the F word twice in a day! Ohhhhh my, I feel faint ......
Arrrrgggghhhhh ........ shhhhhhhhh it's the "f" word again ...... we don't do that here ....
Oh no!!!!!!! I was hoping we wouldn't see him for a while yet

We never ever use the 'f' word on here  We do our very best and sometimes life just gets in the way but every NSD is a good NSD, so, regardless if we hit our target or not, we are focusing on our finances and that's gotta be better than before :)

well yesterday was a fail when it came to a NSD
buuuuut and it is a big but, just checked my bank to find out i am only £50 into my overdraft with all bills paid until december :j:j
normally by this time im at least £700 into it
omg this frugal living and my nsd is really paying off for the first time in way too many years i will be going into a new year completely debt free and my account in the black....i feel almost giddy with excitement, i knew i didnt have much left to pay but i didnt realise it was so close

Right, that's it.:mad:The 'f' word has made an appearance again.:(
It's manky kippers for you young lady!
Well done with the OD though.:j
Well, I was hoping that yesterday would be my first NSD but at about 10:00pm after a little wine ordered some moisturiser on the internet (which I did need but could have waited for another day)as had completely forgotten about the NSD. :(

Right, today definitely won't be a NSD so am aiming for Saturday! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Quick question though.......if I put aside some money from today for something I need to buy on Saturday will Saturday still count as a NSD or not? :o

    Thank you!

The rules for getting an nsd are up to you really. If you've put the money aside, but can only get the item tomorrow, then that's fine.

Seriously, don't be too hard on yourself. It's not always easy to get your spending organised ie life gets in the way. So,take a deep breath and relax.I'm sure one'll be along before you know.:)

  • Good evening everyone!

    Popping in to report that:

Monday - Spend day on a part to repair motorcycle.
Tuesday - Spend day to replace a blown blub at home; I couldn't scrabble together enough loose spare change to prevent a spend. :(
Wednesday - Spend day - final part bought for motorcycle repair (didn't think I would need this on Monday ) - bike is now back to full health! :T

However, yesterday was a NSD so I'm up to 4 NSDs! :j And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that today can be one too ... just 5 hours to go! :rotfl:
chris81418 I've just noticed your sig and that you're almost DF.You must be feeling pretty good.:j
chris - oh dear, sorry about the motorcycle spend and then the bulb at home. Hope you managed to get enough change together for the bulb to not ruin another NSD.
I’ve just read your signature properly, your debts are nearly gone now, that’s fantastic. Well done you :T:j :T:j :T:j

Thanks marmite and spoon! blush.jpg I'm not counting my chickens just yet as things are pretty tight, so I'm anticipating a little wobble, but there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. :D

Have a good weekend everyone and good luck catching those NSDs! chicken1.gif
