Samsung Galaxy Ace Phone on contract
Hi can anyone please advise me on this phone?
I am thinking about going on contract for the first time ever, i have been offered a Samsung Galaxy Ace through Car Phone Warehouse for £7.50 a month. Giving me a free phone, 24 month contract, tariff includes 250 minutes and 500mb data and 5000 texts.
I am a bit dubious as it is with Talk Mobile who i have never heard of, but have been informed that they are part of Vodafone and O2.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Who told you this? They do use Vodafone network, but AFAIK have nothing to do with O2 ATM, although this may change in the future: O2 and Vodafone Get The OK To Share Networks....but have been informed that they are part of Vodafone and O2....
Search the board for more information on them, e.g. Talkmobile Reviews0 -

I've got the Galaxy Ace on the £7.50 contract and its all good. Talk Mobile are owned/run by Carphone Warehouse and indeed use Vodafone's network. (On Google Play it shows up as a Samsung GT-S5830i Vodafone).
The only problem I've had was the surly sales assistant getting the hump because I wouldn't take out the all the extras (Insurance, Geek Squad cover etc.)

A worse problem was that you missed £35.35 cashback by going to a store instead of buying online.wendy_the_goat wrote: »...The only problem I've had was the surly sales assistant getting the hump because I wouldn't take out the all the extras (Insurance, Geek Squad cover etc.)

I've got the Ace on the same deal and find it OK in general but a bit fiddly sometimes. A couple of times I've answered a call, accidentally pressed the home screen button which hides the keypad button, and then haven't been able to work out how to "press 1" or whatever the voice asks!0

I've got the ace. It was my first smartphone and for that it has been brilliant. I would recommend it to someone who hasn't had a smartphone before. For myself I will probably upgrade to something with a larger internal memory when my contract expires but it is fine for now.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Hi I had the same thoughts as you and went to the CPW in Leeds today for this phone too. The network is their own and operated through Vodaphone so thats OK. You can also migrate your number too. What they dont tell you though is they will try to relieve you of a £100 deposit which they will not return to you for 6 MONTHS. This is mentioned after a so called credit check. My credit history is perfect so this is a wheeze. They would not budge so I cancelled my purchase and walked out. I have complained to Vodaphone and will also complain to CPW also. BEWARE this offer is unfortunately not as good as it appears.0

I got this deal on behalf of my elderly pa in law and he hasn't had any such charge? Although, being a dedicated money saver I did it online for extra protection, free next day delivery and £35.35 cash back.
PS Been googling and it's definitely to do with your credit application so best check what's on your file (think you can get a free trial) as there may be something put on there that shouldn't be there.0 -
Thanks MillicentBystander. I will do the 30 day free check as you suggest. You have me worried now.0
