why would asomeone would waste so much time for so little profit, if not an actual loss after fvf and paypal's cut : 1) they are ignorant 2) they are out for revenge selling their unfaithful partner's belongings0

3/ Or selling off unwanted items and using the opportunity to give their selling feedback a bit of a kick start and are not worried about any profit.0 -
It would actually have been cheaper for them to have been scammed, they would have lost less money.
I'm sorry, but however new you are I cannot see why making a loss is safe at all, might as well throw the stuff away.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I buy regularly on ebay, but have never sold. Speaking personally I would be quite happy to have a few small ebay sales with 0% profit or even a small loss if it meant that I learned the ropes.0 -

Oh well, I suppose that is where we have to differ. If I can't trust myself to sell properly I wouldn't do it at all. This guy is really only selling a few bits and bobs off, the rest of his stuff finishes today and after that he has nothing new listed.
If he was a business I would accept that you need to learn the ropes- but surely never at a loss, if you can't work out how to make a profit then it is a good reason to walk away from the venture.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. My trust in my ability to sell properly would, I expect, be boosted by a few successful sales. Practice makes perfect and all that. I work in education, and perhaps put more emphasis on the importance of preparation and doing a few trial runs than others might. If he was a business I would accept that you need to learn the ropes- but surely never at a loss, if you can't work out how to make a profit then it is a good reason to walk away from the venture.
If I was to start selling regularly on ebay, then I'd want to make a profit in the long term. I wouldn't be expecting to make a profit in the first few weeks of trading. If ebay allows a profit from the first sale, then I'd view that as an extremely easy business to start off in.
Compare that to, say, re-opening a shop that has been closed for a while. (This has happened with two shops near where I live). I've seen the new owners struggle to get the word out that they have re-opened, and try and increase people visiting their shops. One of the shops quickly closed again. I don't envy them their job of trying to open a shop and make it profitable.0 -
interestingly his stars have just appeared as he obviously has more than 10 unique feedback as a seller now. His despatch star and p and p star are both at 4.7 and his communication 4.8 although his description one shows 4.9.
He currently has no items for sale.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think some new ebayers don't factor in the costs of ebay selling plus their paypal fees until the end of the month. I've seen a lot of sellers take advantage of the free weekend listings and then relist continually if items doesn't sell. They don't seem to be aware that it's not free to relist during the week.
Like you say soolin, often easier and cheaper to take to the charity shop. Just look at the prices of completed items and make a decision..Saving money right, left and centre0 -

I have two large boxes of stuff to take to charity shop- all bits and pieces and I had started photographing them to list on ebay last weekend on the FLW and frankly couldn't be bothered. They are all complicated things, so would need a number of photos, would need excellent boxing and cost a lot to post and I am taking the easy way out and will gain karma points by donating them instead.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
