    This ^^

Get on with it. Get over it. It's not going to kill you!
It may do if the OP has to then do a back to back day shift on top of the night one as they normally do 9-5 so when doing 2am to 10am this may over lap with the day work

A couple of nights, ever...do it

A couple of nights a week....look for a new job and attend the interviews when you're free in the day

    A couple of nights a month....negotiate
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    Getting on three years,

Bonus is part of my contract,

One other engineer (my junior), but he is on the same position as me, two young children, and he definitely doesn't want to do it!
So what would be your work pattern if you did do it?

You still have to work days?

Aren't then in fact making your day post redundant?

Thats not correct in most industry's , we do a morning and night shift once a week , it gives us a gap of only 8 hours between shifts..
They is no way a lot of people could get home eat sleep, get up get ready and get back to most jobs in 8 hours.

Read the post properly - the OP clearly states this is instead of his normal hours.

It's only for a few days!

the OP says its all week? I don't think he does, let me look

that's it the OP says 'This will only be for a couple of nights' so on the other days the OP is not working?

Oh a few days? But the contract the OP has is for DAY work!!

The OP will do the night shifts for the "couple of nights", followed by the required rest period. He will then return to his normal hours. So, if he works Monday to Wednesday on nights, he will not be expected back on normal shift until Friday at 9am.

But if he does not do it he will lose his bonus, as he is showing himself to be inflexible and not a team player.

Sound like a good idea to you?

The OP hasn't said that though. The OP has made no refernece to rest break of anything.

EVeryone bangs on about 'team' players well where is the team? A team is not just one person and you can not change the contract hours just like that with a threat.
