Bad Plusnet experience; broadband recommendations please

After too much time wasted with Plusnet, who make it exasperatingly difficult to pay for their line rental saver, I want to change providers.

Any recommendations please for a good value company with genuine customer service? I am not looking for bells and whistles, just basic technology, with access to real people.

Thank you

Depends greatly on what you can get where you are- put your postcode into SamKnows and see what providers are in your area.

Plusnet and O2 are currently (to my knowledge) the only ISPs who have exclusively UK call centres.

Surprised you had problems setting up Plusnet line rental saver - I did that deal with them a couple of weeks ago without any problems, only took a couple of minutes.

If you're quick there's a good saving to be had as the price goes up mid November.

I've not had any problems with their customer service and always been able to speak to 'real people' whenever I needed to (not that often) in the two years I've been with them.

No connection with Plusnet except as a normal customer.

My only gripe with Plusnet is that the speed is excellent at first and then gradually tails off over time. When you ask them about this you get a multitude of answers that never seem to require BT being called out. I wouldn't mind so much but we live in a Market 1 exchange with no prospect of fibre anytime soon.

I certainly will not be renewing with Plusnet as I thought the days of companies giving customers the runaround were shelved as soon as Mike Read left CBBC as a presenter.
