Problem with NPower
Options
Hi
I moved into my current address at the start of May and am still waiting for my first gas and electric bills from Npower. I queried this at the start of September and was told that this was because there a billing dispute with the previous occupant and that there was a problem with their new computer system which meant that due to this dispute a bill could not be generated for my address. I phoned them again today to chase up things and was told there was no record of any disputed bill with the previous occupant and that this wouldn't matter anyway as a new account was started when I moved in (I did suggest that when I spoke to their customer services in September!). However, I was told they still have a computer problem which means they cannot tell me my account balance or generate a bill. They helpfully told me they could give no idea at all about when this would be resolved and that this was effecting many customers. I've searched online and cannot find anyone else reporting the same issue and am struggling to understand how if they have all my meter readings they can't generate a bill and that if there is a computer issue why it hasn't been fixed 7 weeks later! I'm obviously concerned that I'm eventually going to get a huge bill! Is anyone in the same boat or does anyone have any advice?

I believe they are working now, but they have been down others have reportedDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Thanks. I have been going through previous npower posts but haven't managed to find anything about this. As of this afternoon they're still saying that there are problems with their computer system. It just seems a bit strange for such a big company that 7 weeks after they first told me they had computer issues they still haven't sorted the problem!0

That's nothing... read my post for the mother almighty of nPower problems.
Best thing to do (if poss), is to be disciplined, open up a seperate online bank account, and standing order yourself £80 or so a month into specifically for the dreadful day when a large bill comes your way - then you'll be able to deal with it far more comfortably.
The longer it goes on, the bigger the complaint you should raise (through no fault of your own), that they will place you in and expect you to just pay up. Use it to your advantage for a compensation credit or similar as when they get their act together.0 -
It could be worse - read Npower versus the vulnerable of you doubt that
caused by the customer not the supplier though, your case the courts have not even found in your friends favour so nto good example.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. That's entirely a matter of opinion - Npower had ever opportunity to resolve it - including long before it ever saw th courts - and simply chose not to do so.
As to it being a good example or not - the point raised was that matters could be worse, hence it's a perfect example of that being so - right or wrongs are irrelevant to that aspect you are just sadly once again too blind to see it - always siding with the energy companies no matter what.

but if your friend is faced with a £10k bill for legal costs from them , seems you are onto a loosing battleDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

It's yet to be seen what costs will be assessed at and how the appeal process will pan out and of course whether Npower will ever mange to recover such costs even if the appeal failed.
Whatever happens none of this alters the assertion made to rjdavis that his / her situation could be worse. In fact if anything he / she appears to be far better off in their situation!0 -
I moved into my flat at the beginning of March. Signed up online, email confirmation received same day. But to this date no bill, no response. But two days ago, they sent the housing association a letter, with my address but no name, informing of the price hike. So housing send it to me. It has an account number on there but when I enter it online, not recognised.
Knowing our luck, the bills will arrive before Christmas, with them demanding payment before Christmas. So much for providing personal information on their website when joining but some how its all messed up.
A letter from them or email to say they were having tecnical difficulties would have been nice.0 -
Just wanted to know if anyone had any luck with NPower? I emailed the gentleman who posted on here to help customers and received a promt reply. I then received an email from head office and emailed back with the details requested. That was more than two weeks ago and still haven't heard back. I emailed head office again but still no reply.
Any suggestions?0
