Halifax PPI settlement, help please?

Hi Guys

Im very new to this site and need some advice please.

Ive had 5 loans dating 2001 to 2008. I wrote to RBS trying to claim back ppi on these 5 loans. I called RBS today and 2 of the 5 loans have gone through and 3 have been rejected.

I told RBS the reason i was missold ppi was because i was advised / pressure tactics, wasnt explained what ppi was and wasnt made aware you could get ppi from other companies. I also informed them i had a loan which i havent tried to claim ppi on as at this point in my life i was aware what ppi was and didnt want it.

Vertually all these loans overlap each other so one loan was to pay another loan off but each loan was nearly paid off. What ive noticed is on 2 of the forms they have but crosses where i should sign for ppi.
Im wondering if this maybe the 2 they accepted ppi on?.

If all 5 loans are the same apart from loan amounts, Can they accept 2 ppi claims and not 5, Surely they either reject them all or accept them all?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

All complaints are dealt with on their own merits (or lack of).

You cannot complain about a rejection solely on the basis that you've had some successes.

    Thanks for reply.

I totally understand that but all circumstances are the same apart from date loan was taken out.

The reason i was missold was for the same reason. Loan was taken out from the same branch.

    Thanks

Banks don't reveal the reasons why they have upheld complaints. It's highly likely that the complaint reasons you gave were not the ones which caused the Bank to agree to redress you. The probability is that the Bank's investigation identified other mis-selling faults which were not present in the loans they rejected.

To be honest, your complaint reasons were weak "hearsay" which cannot be proven. In normal circumstances, you would expect a rejection of all these complaints.

The only other possibility is that two of your policies were refunded without any investigation. Halifax have been known to "auto pay" some complaints if they meet certain cost criteria.

As I said in my earlier response, you really can't complain about rejections based solely on your successes.
    Sorry.

But the reasons for paying out may be different. What if one was an auto-payout. Does that mean all should be auto paid out?

    Hi

Reading other people cases and reasons for being missold ppi i was under the impression these are very good reason.

If im told whilst getting a loan that i should have ppi and i didnt actually want this but the member of staff being persistant that to me is being missold ppi, Not actually being told what ppi is and being under the impression i had to have it and then not being informed i could get ppi elsewhere to be is being pressured into agreeing to ppi. Now alot older and wiser i wouldnt touch it with a bargepole as i know there not worth the paper there printed on in some cases. Just seemed strange to me all same conditional loans and 2 accepted and 3 rejected, Then the only 2 they do accept appear to have the crosses (X) against the sign here section on ppi.
    Thanks

    Thanks for replies guys.

(But the reasons for paying out may be different)

If all reasons for being sold ppi are the same i cant see why theyd be different reasons.

They would be good reasons if they weren't simply unprovable allegations.
Can I now refer you to my earlier posts? There really isn't any more to say on the matter.
Enjoy the redress from the successes you did have.

As I've already told you, banks don't reveal the reasons why they have upheld complaints

You may see these as unprovable allegations but i know i was sold the ppi when i didnt want it.
I will appeal against the 3 rejected claims.

    Thanks for help thou.

    I'm not the Bank!
I was telling you how the Bank sees unsubstantiated allegations! I know perfectly well that high pressure sales techniques were used, as I was on the receiving end of them myself!

Just don't do it purely on the basis that the other loans were successful.

I hope you are aware that the Bank won't entertain an "appeal" now that they've given their "full and final" response? They will just repeat the earlier rejection.

Do also note that the Ombudsman will take a year or more to adjudicate.

I havent responded to the bank im awaiting the reply by letter. Ive only spoken to them via the phone and wanted a break down per loan which they gave me. Ive already informed them that the 2 accepted claims sound ok but i'll be ringing / responding back to the rejected claims. They said this was perfectly acceptable and they would raise the matter further when i respond. If it does go to the Ombudsman i have all the time in the world.
