That's so true, we are so used to stocking up on stuff, that when we get down to the last few, it is bothersome to say the least!!! To think that I used to buy one item at a time and use it up before I bought another!!!
If I have less than 8 loo rolls in the house, I begin to panic.:)

Posting this in case tosco put wine 25% off

1 x Hardys Nottage Hill Chardonnay Australia (750ml)£5.00£7.98
    2 x Yellow Tail Shiraz Australia (750ml)£11.36£15.98

Excellent finds - Pity about the tpp cap though. Roughly you can buy 3 of these plus 3 others which are not stocked by Sada - ideally a set of the 34£12 wines maybe. Then you would just need the usual set of fillers to get your spend over £40 to use a conditional spend.

Just had a look at mys and there is a not hill Shiraz as well as a the Chardonnay. Yellow tail is an odd one though, not showing as stocked by Sada apart from
    Moscato
Not heard of this before - any wine buffs enlighten us please?

  • I had my first ever major trouting today at ASDA. Here's the email I sent to the CS dept which details my story:

"I am emailing you in relation to the way I was treated and spoken to at your B*********l store today.

I spent over an hour and a half wandering around your store and filling my trolley with £90+ worth of groceries. As the manned checkouts were busy, presumably due to half-term, I opted to take my time packing my goods at the self-service checkouts instead. After scanning all my items, I proceeded to the payment screen and took the dozen or so coupons out of my bag to scan before parting with my cash. These coupons were all legitimate, either printed from the electronic, online version of Metro newspaper, taken from manufacturer's pages on Facebook or printed PDFs provided on the manufacturer's website. As these coupons required assistance, I waited for a member of staff to help me out.

Upon her arrival, she picked up the first coupon (valid for a free can of Heinz Beanz) and immediately stated, "we can't take this, it's fake". Obviously, I argued my case and pointed out where I had found the coupon online but she was adamant. She said she'd have to speak to a manager and disappeared to do just that. Upon her prompt return, she stated that the coupon wouldn't be accepted. I decided not to argue the point and instead asked for assistance with the rest of my coupons.

This was at 1.35pm. She took all of my coupons after a short look through them, stating "none of the barcodes (on the coupons) match the barcodes on the items" - a totally ridiculous point to make, as if they did, they'd just scan at the price of the item, surely - and again went to speak to a manager. I was left at the self-service checkout with my bagged shopping until 2.10pm. Throughout some of this time, I could see the member of staff a number of aisles away perusing my coupons with another member of staff. Occasionally, the other members of self-service staff popped over to them and huddled around my coupons as if they had never seen printed paper before. During these 35 minutes, not one member of staff apologised for my inconvenience, nor the wait I was enduring waiting to find out if my legitimately-obtained, perfectly valid coupons were, indeed, just that.

This is not the first time I have used these coupons in the B***********l store - in fact, only two days previously, I used a number of them at a manned checkout and they were accepted graciously.

At 2.10pm, the member of staff returned with the words, "Bad news, I'm afraid. We can't take ANY of them". These coupons were, I repeat, a mixture of PDFs, Safe Coupons (with unique barcodes), Facebook offers and e-Metro issued print-outs. After a 35 minute wait, with no apology, to have staff insinuate I was committing fraud in order to obtain a tin of beans, amongst other items, I abandoned all of my shopping and left the store. Again, I received no apology for the stress, embarrassment nor time wasted in shopping at the store.

In addition, I spent £6.80 in bus fare to get to and from the store. At least, in one respect, I have saved money as it is extremely unlikely this will be resolved to my satisfaction so I will instead take my business to Tesco. I am appalled, furious and bewildered that this happened, particularly as I'd used coupons in this store without hassle before. These coupons are legitimate and should be accepted. I will be forwarding this email to the manufacturer's of the products concerned to make them aware that their promotions are being hindered by badly-trained staff and poorly-implemented store policies. Let me just say this - although I've not had a problem until today at ASDA, I have never had an issue at Tesco, Sainsbury's or Waitrose. It was a not insubstantial amount of money I was due to spend in your store and I am baffled as to how what amounted to £5's worth of coupons were refused for the most tenuous of reasons.

What seems ironic is the way suspected shoplifters are taken to one side and spoken to discretely, yet myself, using coupons, was embarrassed in front of everyone using the self-service checkouts during the 30 minute period I was there.

I fear now, I will be too embarrassed to return; too fearful that my time will be wasted and my coupons not accepted."

What a to the point email - very professionally written, you come across as a very calm, educated professional person not a ARGHHHHHHH at all ;) It is truley disgusing how they treat some customers, I for one will be very interested in your reply - I got trowted a couple of weeks ago with a special k coupon - they are sending me a full '£2.69 on a gift card for my upset  I couldnt believe how kind they were :(
