O/S Daily Thread Thurs 24th Oct

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 24th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning BB I agree with you I still have some of her recipes in my cook book. Why not remember her as we all saw her on the posts with her lovely coloured font.
DD popped round last night as she is off to New York tomorrow morning for a week with her OH.She has a small list of things to bring back for me that are cheaper in the U.S.She has sorted out a couple of quotes for me for my bathroom alterations bless her now I just have to sit and weigh up which would be the best one for me and let her know when she comes home.
School run this morning as usualu the boys are getting excited as its almost half term and my DD (their Mum has got a week off from work so we are arranging where we will go next week.I think on Tuesday we are going to have a day in London at the V & A as there is an exhibition of film costumes there, and the children want to see the Star Wars and Batman costumes. We are also hoping if the weather is kind to have a day at Greenwich. so thats two days sorted.
Well time to get a wriggle on and have some breakfast and a shower
Take care everyone and stay wrapped up warm
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
I must admit that I found a post of Diva's a few months ago and it made me smile xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
Still feel terrible here, had a better nights sleep last night, OH went in the spare room,so at least we are all more rested.
Dinner tonight will be fish fingers chips and beans, nice and easy and no effort needed, just right for today.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull and overcast here this morning, but fog does seem to have lifted at last. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was pork chops, mash and veg, they were a bit on the "overcooked"??!! side as had 1 telephone call after another whilst cooking but they did all get eaten. Not sure about tonight but as we're going away tomorrow and I have loads to do today it will be something that I can just put in the oven as time is going to be really tight.
Work still wasn't horrendously busy, and had a bit of good luck, one of my colleagues had booked a week's leave next week but then cancelled it, so there was holiday time available if anyone wanted it - and I've managed to get a day's holiday booked for Monday - so have an extra long weekend and then only have to work for a day and a half next week.
DS2 is going to get back to cycling to school today and desperately wants to get back to pe/games/dance so have said that he can - just hope his foot is as ready to do it as his brain seems to be!
Have the usual list of chores to do today but all of tomorrow's on the list too, as have to get 2 days' worth of work into 1 - but as boys on half term next week and I'm now off Monday not going to worry too much if all is not done, just need to make sure we're all packed and I've done a food shop for going away and for DH's lunch for Monday. I'm cooking for our friends tomorrow night once we've arrived on site so am looking forward to that, menfolk are having chicken in a sauce, myself and friend are having salmon with hollandise sauce, new potatoes, carrots, broccolli and peas, then a cheesecake/fruit salad type dessert as friend's DH is diabetic - both menfolk don't particularly like fish and both us ladies love it but of course she doesn't cook it because he doesn't eat it - so I'm cooking it for both of us!
Have a great day everyone x

Julie well done on the weight loss, two dress sizes is quite an achievement.
Redruby Get well soon.
Beemuzed and Cat-Smith Hugs.
Topsy Hugs for you and for your DS.
We are off to see my parents for the day today. My brother and his family will be there too so that will be fun.
Met my friend for lunch yesterday with her new baby. She used to be a real career girl but now you can see that she is totally besotted with her baby. She said that she now realises what matters in life.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning, very grey and rainy here. Not too cold though.
Looking forward to seeing my son later today after a brief spell at work.
Migraine almost gone and cold coming out so no brain fog from painkillers today (but they did make me sleep well!).
House is a complete tip, stacks of washing to do, paperwork building up.....I keep saying I must get more organised and then I let it all slip away again. The stupid thing is I prefer my house when it's tidy but I never seem to get round to tidying it until it reaches the stage where I can't bear it anymore. Plenty of people have much busier lives than me and they manage a tidy house. I'm not by nature a lazy person, more of a whirlwind but there's a block in my brain about housework. Tried Flyladying for a whiole and that really did help and motivate me. Better get backto that. And I hereby publicly declare that today I WILL do my bedroom and the lounge.
Have as much fun as possible all.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
