Amazing (or maybe not) that the majority of DM readers have leapt to the defence of CM, even saying Alan was abusive. There is no place in modern society for abusing animals in the way that he does, particularly when it is dressed up as 'training'.
I think it's great that Alan (or his team) did some research on the back of the complaints before the show, so it didn't just become chat along the lines of 'ooooh Cesar, you work miracles with dogs, now let's promote your forthcoming tour'. If it makes one person rethink their ideas, that's fanastic."No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -
I was quite impressed with AT, it would be nice if the interview wakens a few people up to the outdated methods that CM uses, it's also nice to think that the show actually took notice of all the emails and someone obviously took the time to look at the clips that were sent it to it.0

Funny how verbal abuse to someone who can defend themselves is unacceptable, yet physical abuse to a dog is OK and the dog defending itself is the worst crime in the world!0 -
Well done Alan - hopefully this interview will raise a few doubts in the minds of those who've heard of CM and who think that the Mexican Teeth is just gorgeous and therefore can do nothing wrong ....the Yorkshire Tyke terrier did well!
I'm not surprised that the CM followers have jumped up to defend their Master - sorry Mentor ....they've been trained to attack!
Personally, I'd now like to see Alan interview someone like Ian Dunbar who can put over the benefits of positive training!0 -
I read a cm book once gave up after a few chapters as got sick of his I am wonderful and name dropping with very little substance as to how to train a dog.
Well done Alan for highlighting thisI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
I think it was very telling that he couldn't think of one example of using food rewards for training - he had to ramble on about the parrot to distract from that!0

On the down side, shame Eammon Holmes didn't use the same tactics as Alan Titchmarsh on Sky News this morning. His (EH's) female sidekick did ask him about shock and prong collars and said that the thought of it distressed her, but when he gave his answer, just nodded as if now he'd explained it, it made it all OK, didn't pursue it at all. :-("No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0

It's good to hear someone in the public eye has finally called CM on his "methods". He could learn a lot from Victoria Stilwell.
CM certainly has his fans though: It never ceases to amaze me the number of feeble-minded thugs who think it's acceptable to beat their pets/children."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
It's funny how Victoria Sitwell can obtain the same results from dogs with different methods.
I've watched both trainers; I know which one I'd let near my dogs and it wouldn't be Cesar Millan!0 -
Did not watch the programme but a little perspective.
RSPCA will put an agressive dog down but they criticise CM fo saving the same dog by his "brutal" methods. Interesting.
Victoria Stilwell - can someone point me to where SHE has dealt with a REALLY agressive dog and all was great?
I am NOT defending anyone/attacking anyone, just putting a bit of perspective into all this.0
